In the Swiss Alps, Carla (Alida Valli) is preparing to scale the White Tower, a mountain her father died trying to climb. Although local guides warn her against doing so, an undaunted Carla assembles a crew of climbers who, much like her, accept the challenge for their own very personal reasons -- including a French author (Claude Rains), a British naturalist (Cedric Hardwicke), a former Nazi (Lloyd Bridges) and Martin, an American pilot (Glenn Ford) who is romantically pursuing Carla.

Russ G Jan 1 Decent technical movie making for the time but that's all it has going for it besides the lovely Miss Valli. Is she wearing lipstick at 10,000 ft to prevent chapping? It's melodramatic and a completely unrealistic depiction of an assault on an unconquered Alpine peak by six people I wouldn't trust to finish an afternoon hike over rolling terrain. Throw in a contrived romance and you have a real stinker. I don't know what Claude Rains is doing in this as the role is utterly unbecoming of such a talent.
