Cora 07/04/2023 Took me twice to really get the movie, but the story is incredibly interesting and compelling! I was surprised at how well-planned the plot was from the very start, with details I overlooked at the beginning becoming major plot points in the end. It starts out like an epic fantasy story + a side of court intrigue almost, but soon begins to show its melancholic and emotional roots. The characters were compelling and the depictions of raw emotions (esp. on the part of Olivia Wang, who played the Princess) at times were really well-done and moving. By the end of the film, I really did feel for the antagonists. Learning that it was all just a tragic love story in the end was an excellent touch to the overall themes of the movie. Even the characters showed on screen is just the low ranking shikigamis, only N, R, or just SR rank. It is quite alright, at least the low rank shikigamis get Screen-time in this movie. That is a good thing. The thing is the rest of the shikigamis is shown like an Easter egg at the background, or just their iconic weapon just lying on the marketplace. No one will notice that man. I think Hollywood has been too high in the head to give it a fair review because well, it's Hollywood and they're just jealous they can never put together something like this because I've never seen one.
