"The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity" has many of the faults of the (Chinese) fantasy blockbuster, but in the end emerges as a worthy effort at genre cinema, particularly because it manages to do what it "promised" from the beginning: to entertain.

I love this movie. It's so deep and meaning full between the master and fang yue. Their love is so deep. The way the message was left for her by the master was brilliant. I loved it.

Took me twice to really get the movie, but the story is incredibly interesting and compelling! I was surprised at how well-planned the plot was from the very start, with details I overlooked at the beginning becoming major plot points in the end. It starts out like an epic fantasy story + a side of court intrigue almost, but soon begins to show its melancholic and emotional roots. The characters were compelling and the depictions of raw emotions (esp. on the part of Olivia Wang, who played the Princess) at times were really well-done and moving. By the end of the film, I really did feel for the antagonists. Learning that it was all just a tragic love story in the end was an excellent touch to the overall themes of the movie. The visuals are really creative and well-done, as well.

That movie claimed it is based on Onmyoji the game, but in reality it is based on its setting and world building loosely. Even the characters showed on screen is just the low ranking shikigamis, only N, R, or just SR rank. It is quite alright, at least the low rank shikigamis get Screen-time in this movie. That is a good thing. The thing is the rest of the shikigamis is shown like an Easter egg at the background, or just their iconic weapon just lying on the marketplace. No one will notice that man.

I absolutely love it. It's everything I expect from a fantasy film - love, drama, suspense, and action. I think Hollywood has been too high in the head to give it a fair review because well, it's Hollywood and they're just jealous they can never put together something like this because I've never seen one. Not from Hollywood and I doubt I'll see anything similar anytime soon. Anyways, they movie was amazing ❤️

The so called reviewers here doesn't even understand that this is not Chinese culture..It's more like reference to a japanese game onmyoji..... The overall concept is good, but the action/acting can be improved. Dear Chinese directors, please stop using actor/actresses just because of the pretty faces.. Overall, I feel it faces the same problem as a lot of chinese/asian fantasy flicks, everyone is just too pretty, clean, tidy and colorful....
