Some good action plus a poor screenplay, as very typical back in '80s-'90s.

The english title is misleading as this isn't a sequel at all. I miss the first few minutes of the show. I say this is just one of those average action movie. Donnie Yen is an ex-cop, on the run from gangster with lawyer Rosamund Kwan. She's the lawyer hired by his ex-wife for divorce. The gangster think she stolen their money. David Wu is also gangster whose boss Lo Lieh have another man Robin Shou. David also want to know where's the money and works with them. After fighting here, chasing there, Rosamund think she know where's the money - under the lift shaft. Donnie and David retrieve the money and celebrate. David make Donnie drunk and going to expose the bad doings of Robin. But he has kill Lo Lieh and wanna be the big boss. He fight David and kills him. Donnie and Rosamund arrive to save him too late. He fight a henchman John Salvitti with samurai sword and win. Robin continue to do his drug business and Donnie with his cop friend crash the party. Donnie fight Michael Woods and win. Next he fight Robin who is tough. Rosamund strike a big pole from behind his head and he died.

The first Tiger Cage was an average movie for me, so why would I watch the sequel if I didn't think much of the first. Simple, Donnie Yen is the star of the movie.
The story is an improvement, though nothing special is more entertaining this time around. A tough-as-nails ex-cop (Donnie Yen), Alan, and a lawyer, Mary, accused of murder, team up with a unscrupulous lawyer, David, as they intend to solve the case of laundering dirty money. It turns out that David was involved, but was betrayed by his cohort Wilson. Now Alan, Mary, and David must fight Wilson and his henchmen. What I didn't like much was it comedic relief was timing was a little off, but it worked for the most part.
The action sequences are much better, just slightly above average to keep you enthrall in the action. The action is more exciting and better done in this sequel. Unfortunately I can't say much for the acting, Donnie Yen is great as always, unfortunately his co-stars aren't always good. Like the first Tiger Cage, you want something more from the ending instead of an abrupt end.
Tiger Cage 2 does enough improvements over it predecessor to bring us the audience a more memorable experience. Though it lack improvement in certain areas, it's doesn't ruin this good movie.

Tiger Cage 2 is another classic HK actioner from the 90's. The plot is simple, but action director Yuen Wo Ping doesn't stay focused on the plot for too long...he gives the people what they want to see and that's loads of gunfights, plenty of humour and fantastic fight choreography that hits dead centre!
Donnie Yen plays a hot-headed ex-cop named Dragon Yau whose attitude has got him in trouble with his bosses and his wife. On a trip to the lawyers, he is witness to a robbery where a suitcase of money disappears and a lot of guys get shot. Somehow, he ends up with lawyer Mandy Chang (Rosamund Kwan) on the run from the cops who think they committed a murder and from the bad guys that think they have the money. Reluctantly they are forced to form an alliance with one of the bad guys, David (David Wu), who has been betrayed by the gang led by Waise Chow (Robin Shou).
Donnie Yen shows us some of the solid, hard-hitting, high-kicking action that has made him famous over the years. The man truly does enjoy playing the hard-boiled tough guy who never runs from a fight and never backs down when trouble is near. Rosamund Kwan did a terrific job as Mandy Chan, the divorce lawyer who finds herself in an unpredictable situation and doesn't have a clue why people are trying to kill her and is plagued with guilt over the death of her best friend Petty. The situations with her and Donnie are just too funny for words as the two can't stand each other's behaviour but learn to come to an understanding when they realize they can't survive without each other.
The fight scenes are amazing: plenty of raw kicking power, sword swinging action and gun-fights galore to keep you on the edge of your seat. The choreography for the scenes is spot on. Tiger Cage 2 is a fantastic movie and I recommend it to anyone who's into modern day actioners, Donnie Yen, Rosamund Kwan and the choreography of Yuen Wo Ping. Highly recommended.
