Peter Travers The Travers Take There’s not a twist you can’t see coming, but thanks to Kiefer Sutherland and a cast of up-for-anything actors, this trifle goes down easy and leaves a smile on your face for the holidays Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 28, 2025 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Sutherland makes it all work, delivering a thoroughly winning performance that makes you buy into the overall hokum. Nov 26, 2025 Full Review Sarah Musnicky But Why Tho? A Geek Community This latest entry in the ever-growing holiday movie genre throws in everything but the kitchen sink. Yet, somehow, it works, and it’s great fun when it stays on course in pursuit of panto! Rated: 8/10 Nov 28, 2025 Full Review Mark Dujsik Mark Reviews Movies It's unfortunate how much the movie ... wastes the setup... Rated: 2/4 Nov 28, 2025 Full Review Cole Groth FandomWire Seeing Kiefer Sutherland embrace the madness of a British play is a unique delight, playing to Sutherland’s charm while also embracing the simplicity of the premise. Rated: 7/10 Nov 26, 2025 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media It's stuffed to the brim with genre clichés, but a funny script, committed performances, and warm playful tone make this festive comedy hard to resist. Derek R Great Xmas movie that is destined to become a classic. Kiefer makes it all work with his performance. Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/01/25 Full Review Gabriela C Kiefer es the best!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/01/25 Full Review Somera M I really wanted this movie to be a unique and ironically funny, but it was tragically very very bad. It could be a combination of poor writing, directing and poor casting. Keifer Sutherland is amazingly gifted as a dramatic actor, but his comedic timing and lack of natural charisma made his performance cringey to say the least. As for Rebel Wilson, her role was more sincere and down-toearth, which also didn't work because we've gotten so used to her brand of comedy. It's almost as if Keifer's poor acting made everyone else's performance weak as well. You're better off watching a Hallmark Christmas movie and not wasting your time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/30/25 Full Review Soretta R Enjoyable movie if a bit unbelievable that a Hollywood star wouldn’t have a bunch of hangers on following him around. They should have either hired an English actress to play Rebel’s character or had her be Australian. Her accent kept slipping and it took me out each time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/30/25 Full Review Tim C It's a nice christmas feel good movie. My only problem is it feels like its a highlights reel or a story board. The story, acting and visuals are everything you'd expect from a family christmas movie, however it just feels like so much is cut to keep it around an hour and a half and with so many films around 2 hours these days not sure why. Whilst seeing Mr Sutherland in a light hearted comedy is a pleasure, some of his other costars seem to have been pushed to the background for more star time. I really enjoyed it but think that little extra time would have balanced this niggle, after all we don't need to fit it on a VHS (vhs is an old recording medium like a cd (a CD is a recording medium that took off after........its like a long tweet ok)) anymore so what's the problem! but hey its ORIGINAL! It's supporting local theatres and It's CHRISTMAS.....SOON. SO.(sorry for shouting) so for that its definitely 4 stars....tomatoes...or whatever. Oh and well done Rebel for not destroying the dialect of God's own county.....save that for any film you do with a Lancashire accent (or the dark side of the pennines as its known in Yorkshire) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/29/25 Full Review terry W I can’t recommend it. Cheesy corny and not in a good way. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/28/25 Full Review Read all reviews
