      Critics Consensus

To All the Boys I've Loved Before plays by the teen rom-com rules, but relatable characters and a thoroughly charming cast more than make up for a lack of surprises.

Alec B It succeeds because it takes the characters seriously, something these kinds of romantic comedies rarely do. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Molly D Ok, so I was originally very much against this whole series, the books and the movies, there were just too many cliches, and I hated how Peter kept comparing Gen and Laura Jean. I just cannot stand boys who put down other girls to compliment another. But. All that said, this movie IS SO FLIPPING CUTE!!! This is literally a perfect rom com and the chemistry is just 👌. The whole plot is just so adorable and it is sooo fun to watch! It's hilarious, and the sister dynamics are so on-point, I love how they had them interact. Anyway, I would say this movie is a must-see for rom-com watchers!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review farah A The movie To All the Boys is a boring movie because we think nothing new happens in it and it contains a lot of clichés. Those clichés make the movie look like every high school romance. The sister drama about the boyfriend didn't take long to be solved which made the movie very uninteresting. The fact that she wrote letters to many boys but didn't have any contact or relationship with them made it predictable that she was going to be with Peter Kavinsky. High school romances are not our cup of tea, but we like them if there's a lot of drama or a crime. The plot was very simple. We think it didn't have to be childish because the cast is 18 years old in the movie. We would like it more if it was a little bit more unpredictable or if something shocking happened. We are fond of romcoms but this one wasn't it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Raquel M To All the Boys I've Loved Before" is a romantic comedy film released in 2018, based on the book by Jenny Han. The film revolves around Lara Jean Covey, a teenager who writes secret letters to each of her past crushes but never sends them. However, these letters are accidentally delivered to the recipients, triggering a series of events that lead her to fake a relationship with one of her former crushes, Peter Kavinsky. The film's review highlights its captivating take on the teen romantic comedy genre. It stands out for its charismatic protagonist, played by Lana Condor, and the sweet nature of her relationship with Peter, played by Noah Centineo. The film addresses themes of growing up, first loves and the importance of taking risks in matters of the heart. However, its emotional autenticity and well-developed characters make it pleasant option for fans of the genre In short, "For all the boys i've ever loved" is a charming film that captivates characters, ever if it follows some familiar formulas of the genre. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JlFZHknMKOsrk2RlB8YQuwdQ5b0DPkqGi6QRM9xR1C8/edit?usp=drivesdk Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/23 Full Review ana luisa u Es buena pero tiene muchos chinches y a veces es tonta pero es entrenida disfrutable una buena pareja los personajes son regulares y humor es decente es un 6.7 de 10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review John F Solid but comes up short, in part for dragging in spots. Probably better as a television series than a feature-length film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Laura Sirikul Bitch Media Thanks to films like To All The Boys I've Loved Before, The Edge of Seventeen, and Running from Grace, Asian American teenagers can see dimensional versions of themselves onscreen who are worthy of falling in love, no matter who they end up with. Mar 11, 2021 Full Review Hannah Giorgis The Atlantic Thrills in part because most viewers are all too familiar with what it feels like to baldly deny feelings for another person even as they become patently obvious to everyone else. Sep 10, 2019 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Much of the movie's success is down to Condor's gentle appeal and her quiet chemistry with co-star Noah Centineo . Aug 29, 2018 Full Review Patricia Karounos Refinery29 Every movie should have a Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky — except I don’t know that we, as a society, are prepared for that much cuteness. Oct 23, 2023 Full Review Nicholas Oon Maximum Hype (YouTube) It has a strong, flawed protagonist who reminds us of some important life lessons as she is learning them at the same time.
