Guy Lodge Variety [jA] deliberate, elliptical and startlingly carnal vision of a rogue French soldier's vengeful heart-of-darkness quest. May 11, 2018 Full Review Jordan Mintzer Hollywood Reporter This skillfully crafted and superbly shot war movie suffers from some familiar plot mechanics and an overwhelming sense of doom, yet remains a compelling look at a conflict seldom depicted in French cinema. May 10, 2018 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian An extremely confident and undeniably well-made Vietnam war movie... Rated: 3/5 May 10, 2018 Full Review Lawrence Garcia MUBI Like Ulliel's vengeful Robert Tassen, scenes are often terse and laconic, punctuated by grim, graphic violence. May 24, 2018 Full Review Jorge (JJ) Negrete Butaca Ancha Nicloux displays a gluttonous amount of gratuitous violence that seems to only serve as a sensationalist exercise. [Full Review in Spanish] May 17, 2018 Full Review Gus Edgar Film Inquiry This is brave, exciting filmmaking, and a fine amuse bouche to Apocalypse Now's meatier take on the same subject matter. ole t We're in the Indochina-war, 1945: French Robert Tassen is the only survivor of a massacre in which his brother has perished. Blinded by revenge, Robert rejoins the forces in search of the assassins. But meeting the young Indochinese Maï disrupts his mission. I absolutely loved the tension of this movie. Well recommended.
