Guillaume Nicloux

Writer and director Guillaume Nicloux was born on August 3, 1966. The earliest film he wrote and directed was "Les enfants volants" (1991), followed quickly by "La vie crevée" (1992). In 1998, Nicloux wrote and directed "Le poulpe." The film tells the story of a private investigator called "Octopus" because of his long arms, who travels to a small town to seek reparations for a family grave that was vandalized by a group of young thugs. In 2002 Nicloux wrote and directed "A Private Affair," the story of a private detective hired to head up the investigation of a missing woman, which starred Thierry Lhermitte, Samuel Le Bihan, Aurore Clement, and Academy Award Winner Marion Cotillard. In 2007 Nicloux directed "The Stone Council," a drama written by Nicloux along with Stephane Cabel and Jean-Christophe Grange based on Grange's novel. The film starred Monica Bellucci, Catherine Deneuve and Moritz Bleibtreu, and tells the story of a single woman who adopts a baby who turns out to have clairvoyant powers. Nicloux next wrote and directed "The Kidnapping of Michel Houllebecq" (2014), a quirky comedy-drama about the kidnapping of real-life author Houellebeq, who plays himself. In 2015, Nicloux completed "Valley of Love," starring Gerard Depardieu and Isabelle Huppert.
