prawnda S @RT72497680 7h its far from the worst show i've seen, but it lost my interest very quickly. steve carrel is just not very talented, or at least hes been so typecast for so long that he is just the same guy in every project. i couldn't watch the minions franchise for years just because of how bad (and borderline racist) his voice acting is. when we look back at the usa's rendition of the office, this guy was easily the least appealing or funny character, and was mostly there as the antagonist, constantly making faux pas and derailing productivity. seeing him depict the exact same behaviors but presented as a protagonist doesn't really land. i will say that i think he's better in this than he was in the office, and he has slightly developed as an actor, but it's too little too late. It stars the always note-perfect Steve Carell, has a solid cast, and then is just such a farce that any deep emotions (a la Ted Lasso) just can't be taken seriously. True, it's hard to walk that fine line. The slapstick (both verbal and physical) is so over the top that it becomes tiresome. Funnily enough, a few audience reviewers here can't handle a few jokes about the exquisite sensitivities of college-age students and Carell's inability to avoid saying or doing the wrong thing in their eyes. Their reviews warn us about the extreme dangers of The Woke Agenda and other fantasies, unable to see what is a joke and what isn't. That these things are greatly exaggerated for the purposes of humor seems beyond their grasp. So, while these reviewers are outraged, I'm just tired of the same sort of joke after the third time. Sadly, the plot is convoluted, the characters, other than Carell, unlikable. Real comeback after that bait and switch woke garbage "Welcome to Marwen" that we were tricked into watching and regretted more than any show we suffered through in a long time. Rooster reminds me of Carell's great performance in, "Crazy Stupid Love," film with Gosling and other great cast. We like everything about Rooster, they can't make more episodes fast enough.
