DanTheMan 2 05/02/2023 With a freewheeling, slightly absurdist vibe with a dark edge, Sidney J. Furie's Top of the World takes the typical Die Hard formula but brings chaos to Las Vegas's streets; complimented by its cast including a fantastically unhinged and exceptionally dry Peter Weller, the always awesome Dennis Hopper and a hilarious Martin Kove. A great country rock soundtrack by Robert O. Ragland compliments one-time writer Bart Madison's humourous script and Furie's staging and direction into a B-movie that really demands more attention. It's not so much tongue-in-cheek, more so wild and unruly bringing the Las Vegas energy in film form, the filmmakers build the movie's world on Vegas cliches, designing set pieces around its landmarks and generally just showcasing that they were really there and had the budget to blow most of it up.
