Thirty-five years after the shocking murder of three teens, the infamous "Sweet Sixteen Killer" returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. Seventeen-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom's (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teen mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she's stuck in the past forever.

It’s a mix of masked murderers and social satire, as Jamie has to navigate the “problematic” new world she finds herself in. Nahnatchka Khan’s movie is slight but enjoyable, and Mad Men star Shipka is a deft horror heroine.

I don't often write five-star reviews, but this one truly deserves it. The acting performances were outstanding, bringing genuine emotion to each scene. The storyline was imaginative yet intentionally over-the-top and cheesy, yet somehow the filmmakers managed to make it entertaining, enjoyable, and laugh-out-loud funny!

Kiernan Shipka is sadly wasted in this time travel slasher that has great pacing and a fun premise, but can't stop preaching about how ignorant people in the 80s were compared to today's wise, enlightened youth.

It’s a B movie in the sense of having a low budget and modest ambitions. Still, if the filmmakers had taken it more seriously, it could have been an excellent film. It’s another homage to ’80s movies, much like "Stranger Things", but this time mixing time travel ("Back to the Future") with slasher horror ("Halloween"). The plot is good, but the film itself deserved a bigger investment. The atmosphere should have been darker, the jokes more subtle, and the supporting characters more intelligent. Even so, the film is worth its 103 minutes. It’s engaging, fun, suspenseful, and the actors deliver solid performances.

Entertaining and funny! I especially loved how offended Pam was by every little thing and showed how fragile her generation is compared to the thick skinned 80's gen was then. Must watch!
