Critics Consensus

Tower Heist is a true Brett Ratner joint: little brains to this caper, but it's fun fluff, exciting to watch, and showcases a welcome return to form for Eddie Murphy.

The movie moves well, had plenty of bright spots and never bores, and by the time it was over I couldn't help but smile. Go to Full Review

The actors are serviceable in their roles, the obvious standouts being Leoni’s charm and Alda’s capacity to fulfill a slippery-as-snot movie villain. Otherwise, everyone else seems like they’re on autopilot. Go to Full Review

Jace E @thefilmguy Dec 1 Thanksgiving movie! I remember wondering when this came out why it didn't get a ton of attention. Now that I'm rewatching it a decade plus later, I understand why. The heist is underwhelming, the whole story feels one-note and the supporting cast is somewhat forgettable. All of that aside, I actually really enjoyed this movie. I'll watch anything starring Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy provided a few good laughs and I find myself quoting Matthew Broderick's Mr. Fitzhugh more often than I realized. There are some good third-act payoffs as well. Not great, not bad, but still an enjoyable "holiday" flick. The movie is entertaining with a good quality cast , even though the story line is not original , but has its twist in the end although there is no true romance in it , it's fantastic entertainment . This is a *great* popcorn heist movie with an airtight script. From Stiller as the building manager/heist coordinator to Murphy as the criminal subject matter expert to Leoni as the lead investigator to Alda as the smarmy villain, and every bit part in between, everyone nails their respective characters. Its audience score is more criminal than the finance bro villain of the movie itself. God, it'd make for a great sequel. See more Ed R @JustcallmeER Jul 7 Exciting, funny and great for the family!
