Aender S A comedy about the Holocaust even more effective than La vita è bella because it's got a lot of Jewish and also some Gypsy humour. The end will hit you like a train every time you watch the film. A masterpiece served with an excellent musical score by Goran Bregović. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Rico R Radu Mihăileanu's The Train of Life, while a funny concept in essence, very much misses the mark when it comes to trying to connect the horrors of the Holocaust to anything remotely funny. Having had the luxury of watching this one in German, I could certainly tell that it was supposed to be humorous, playing on the wacky rabbis as a crutch of relying on them to bring the humor, without working much harder in any other way. The jokes were too random and the humor fell flat, mixed in with a production that was too scattered and hard to follow, making the film quite boring all the way through. The funniest parts were the Pink Panther rip off scenes of the rabbi attempting to strip himself of his Yiddish accent, (similar to the world famous "I would like to buy a bamsurger" childhood plug we have all come to know and love from Inspector Clouseau) while learning "proper" German, something which I guess is funny to some people but for me just came off as abstract and stupid. The movie relied on some of the same "random" humor elements of Life Is Beautiful, but lacking soul and actual good comedic actors. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/23 Full Review Andrea Gorini G un bellissimo film che riguarda una storia furba, ironica e positiva sulla fuga di un villaggio ebraico che cercando di scappare dai nazisti si camuffano con un finto treno di deportati bellissimo film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/21/22 Full Review Audience Member Really heartful fantasy about what life should be like - mutually understanding, happy and peaceful. The jewish comedy is sometimes straight-out hilarious and some scenes are extremely tense for a comedy movie. And then of course, the end that catches every viewer by surprise. An overlooked masterpiece! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is a masterpiece. Whoever doesn't like it, simply doesn't have enough culture, enough sense of humour, enough courage to understand it. And enough sense of life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie isn't funny, isn't dramatic, isn't critic, isn't good, this movie is too shallow. Directing and actors' performance are terrible. Review from Italy Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
