Asami Honjo (Asaka Seto) and her sister, Rina (Mikako Ichikawa), are professional players of shogi, a chess-like Japanese game. Increasingly unhappy with her marriage to Kayuza (Shin'ya Tsukamoto), Asami tells him she will seek a divorce if her recent losing streak continues. Meanwhile, Rina lives with Hiroki (Jun Murakami), an unemployed musician who keeps house for her so she can focus on her work. Tensions come to a head when the two sisters must play a championship game against each other.
