Honestly, we didn't get beyond five or ten minutes. The shaky cam, ham-fisted editing, quick-switching of camera angles and lenses, and muddled "aren't we the auteurs, though?" story-thrashing did not let up. Shaking our heads in bafflement, we bade farewell to much-loved actors Eddie Izzard and Elijah Wood (who were doing their best with what they were given) -- never even got to Donald Sutherland. What a mess!

I highly disliked this as the pacing is terrible and the acting is quite poor.

Perfect example of good Captain in leadership and seamanship. Perfect examples of friendship and negotiation.

Pretty entertaining adaptation and loyal to both the original novel and 1950 film. eddie izzard steals the show as a charismatic and likeable john silver. a few unexpected twists help this version stand out from other adaptations, but i won't spoil them here. if you have time to enjoy the whole thing in one sitting (about 3 hours) you definitely should.

They've changed it, not just unnecessarily but unquestionably for the worse, and that's a travesty.

Settles into boredom quickly, meandering at a glacial pace through mutinous developments and character shifts that could have used a punch-up at the script level.

Aside from pretty scenery, however, and perhaps sympathy for the topnotch British talent who join in the field trip, there's scant reason to sign up for this voyage.

When it really sails, it cuts through the waves swiftly. But it loses wind so many times the thrills come only sporadically.
