J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Troll 2 is bad. Very, very bad. The script is stupid, the acting is wooden, the special effects are laughable, the vintage-80s synthesizer score is cheesy. Rated: 1/4 Sep 28, 2020 Full Review Doug Brod Entertainment Weekly Taking off in its own entirely misguided direction, it tells the story of an average (not to mention lousy-acting) American family that vacations in a town infested with Marty Allen clones who cause folks to sweat green chlorophyll and turn into trees. Jan 1, 2011 Full Review Nick Schager Lessons of Darkness It's rare to find a film with such an ignominious reputation actually living up to the hype. Rated: D- Oct 1, 2007 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh There's ultimately some fun to be had here, though none of it is as satisfying as what you got in the first movie. Rated: 1/5 Sep 12, 2025 Full Review Ashvin Prakash Horror Movie Club Podcast Troll 2's lack of production value, awful acting and nonsensical plot would easily make this film a disaster, but its sense of humor and inability to take itself seriously serves as the greatest strength of the film making for a fun and hysterical watch. Rated: 3/5 Sep 10, 2025 Full Review Brian Bisesi Horror Movie Club Podcast While Troll 2’s blemishes are part of its appeal, the film still manages to be fun, entertaining, and inventive for reasons outside of its “badness”. It is a very good bad movie. Rated: 4/5 Sep 10, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Mark B Still better than overwatch 2. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/14/25 Full Review Gavin H Troll 2 is genuinely my favorite movie of all time. Everyone needs to watch this movie at least once in their lifetime (although I’ve seen it over 10 times). I can always count on this movie to make me laugh no matter how bad of a day I’m having, and that’s something that I haven’t found in any other movie EVER. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review Stephen C Scary funny in 1 hour and 35 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review RezaTech R Troll 2 (1990) is famously terrible—but that’s exactly why it’s so beloved as a “so bad it’s good” cult classic. The movie’s baffling plot about a family vacationing in a town overrun by vegetarian goblins who want to turn them into plants is riddled with awkward dialogue, strange acting, and nonsensical scenes that defy logic at every turn. The production’s evident language barriers and low budget add to the charm of its unintentional hilarity. What truly makes Troll 2 unforgettable is its earnestness despite all its flaws. From the unintentionally hilarious performances to infamous lines that fans endlessly quote, the movie captivates viewers with its sheer absurdity. It’s a cinematic train wreck you can’t look away from—equal parts baffling, creepy, and surprisingly endearing. If you love movies that are wildly entertaining because they’re so bafflingly bad, Troll 2 is a must-watch. It’s earned its place as one of the most popular “worst movies ever made” and continues to attract fans who adore it for its curious blend of horror, kitsch, and comedy gone wonderfully wrong. 3.5 stars Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Audience Member Coffee? Cleavage? Cursing? IN UTAH?? Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/25 Full Review Nick O Often referred to as one of the worst movies ever made. Not where I come from. Don’t get me wrong, it’s bad, but that’s what’s so great about it! Makes almost zero sense and it’s so much fun! It’s not even actually about Trolls!
