What to Know

Critics Consensus

Fueled by Quentin Tarantino's savvy screenplay and a gallery of oddball performances, Tony Scott's True Romance is a funny and violent action jaunt in the best sense.

Carlos May 18 A stacked star studded roster of actors. A great story with great action. True Romance should be acknowledged more often on how great it is. See more Bob P Dec 12 Absolute superstar cast, and a good film but not one of Tarantino's best. A little chaotic at the end. Patricia Arquette is great! See more Jack F @MovieFan111 Nov 17 Unbelievable cast, but that's where the problem lies. In my opinion, there is such a thing as having too many famous faces all squashed into one movie. It was really unnecessary to say the least. Also, not many people know about this movie which I don't understand. Definitely a gem. See more Tommy Y Nov 10 My favorite movie of all time. I do not think its the best movie of all time but to me its the best mix for me. See more Pedro E. @pedroescossio Nov 9 True Romance stands as an early testament to Tarantino’s unmistakable talent: raw, magnetic, and already fully formed. Though directed by Tony Scott, the film never loses the pulse of Tarantino’s screenplay, blending operatic violence with unexpected tenderness. Scott elevates the material into something both gritty and romantic, carried by an ensemble that feels impossibly aligned: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Val Kilmer and Hans Zimmer’s understated score all moving in perfect sync. It’s not merely a film. It’s a cinematic event, the kind that happens once in a lifetime.
