Cristian s Como película dramática funciona bien y se puede ver aunque el resultado final deja que desear. Intenta contar muchas cosas a la vez, eso y el ritmo lento que tiene por momentos le juegan en contra. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrible acting, a movie made for widowers with nothing else to do but watch any product the studios put out these days. This movie was atrocious. As an added insult I received an email from the director and his friend asking me to rate it a 10 on IMDB. Watch for yourself, but have Some coffee (and perhaps some hemlock) nearby when staying awake to watch this horrific adaptation, that was ruined over and over in editing, and focus groups, again in editing.. a true Hollywood mess of poor writing, poor direction and acting, and a book that should have been entrusted to someone else to adapt. Garbage. Spend your time on anything else. Even the casting is a disaster. Tate Donovan as a racist villain? The girl from stranger things as a romantic lead who's also mentally ill? I'm sorry I can't unsee this shallow pap- Do much much better please. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Two thumbs way up! Tuscaloosa has everything: danger, desire, sex and death, all mixed into a fast-moving plot with a terrific soundtrack! I loved the raw edge of the indie production and the blunt story-telling style of the script! I'd love to see more from this team! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved the human dimension in the relationship and the time period presented in the story. Beautiful done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review greg r Yikes this is a poorly written and made movie. Ick. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is very moving, beautiful film set in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the early '70s. It's a love depicts fraught tensions of race, classism, the Vietnam War and politics of the era. The cinematography is stunningly warm and of the era. The actors are excellent and very charismatic, quirky, wild - depicting the confusion, tension and troubles of the times and the struggles to be free, despite the powers that be, working against them. An important timely film, as society continues with similar struggles. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Cath Clarke Guardian [The] film, though well-meaning, is disappointingly tame and soap opera-ish. Rated: 2/5 Jan 26, 2021 Full Review Michael Ordoña Los Angeles Times "Tuscaloosa" is a sneakily ambitious first film that sometimes hits its mark. Mar 12, 2020 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The film offers compelling performances by its two leads and enough provocative elements to make it worthy of attention. Mar 12, 2020 Full Review Steve Morrissey Radio Times Debut feature director Philip Harder skilfully summons the mood of the early 1970s, but the same can't be said for his clumsy adaptation of Glasgow Phillips's novel. Rated: 2/5 Sep 14, 2021 Full Review Paul McGuire Grimes KSTP-TV (St. Paul, MN) Director Philip Harder tackles issues like discrimination and police brutality that are still relevant today that gives you a lot to think about. Rated: 3.5/5 May 1, 2020 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media Based on a 1994 novel by W. Glasgow Phillips, this drama tries to achieve a novel's depth and breadth, and while many facets feel short-changed, much of it is still powerfully engaging.
