laurie s I thought Jai White did a very good job. It's evident to me the real Tyson, from his behaviour and for frittering away nearly 400 million$, is a child in a man's body. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a pretty decent movie for the first half of his career before the incidents that would change the wild story you already know. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/21 Full Review Audience Member Tyson had potential to be a rather good TV Movie and while Jai White looks spitting image of the titular character the film itself is plagued with issues. The script is atrocious, it's horrifyingly bad. All Scott literally does is go on a tangent, stops with a pause and says something inspiring, rinse and repeat for the next forty minutes. Jai White plays Tyson as if he's mentally retarded or so incredibly dumb he can't understand anything. He also plays the character in two separate fashions and not the psychological part you'd imagine, oh no. He plays him as innocent, then as a manic in the next scene and that sounds about right but it's pulled off so badly it feels like two distinct characters and with the limited acting capability he actually has its embarrassing to watch. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Ironic. Was inspired by the editing style of the Tyson documentary, took a break and this was playing on the tube. George C. Scott is the perfect Cus D'Amato ! great casting and solid HBO movie. Jonathan F. Richards Film.com The most remarkable revelation of the movie is its subject's thoughtful, reflective eloquence and unflinching self-perception. Aug 23, 2009 Full Review Urban Cinefile Critics Urban Cinefile A deft combination of Tyson telling his story, his boxing matches and the media view from the day makes this a left-right combo punch that hits the mark for both boxing and documentary fans Jul 29, 2009 Full Review Rob Thomas Capital Times (Madison, WI) It's more in the details and in the margins that "Tyson" is riveting, and what Tyson sometimes reveals unintentionally.
