Audience Member This movie is like All Monsters Attack/Godzilla's Revenge but worse. Who thought this was a good idea? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Want my hour and a half back! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Despite all the monster scenes being recycled from previous films, the linking story worked well, and a final showcase idea was an interesting end to the Showa Gamera series. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member What is this? Pretty much every battle from the Gamera Showa series with a bunch of superhero ladies that live in a basket. The kids aren't too annoying in this one, but they're there and they don't do anything for the plot. There is only a few seconds of new Gamera footage and they're very cheap looking. It's a nice way to see all the battles in one setting, but the story and characters are down right awful. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie in which Gamera faces all his past foes in one film, the concept alone should have made for an interesting flick. However, all the footage of the monsters is stock footage. So basically you are watching all of Gamera's battles from his previous films, which is not a movie but merely a glorified clip-show. The plot is only their to connect the stock footage sequences in a very contrived manner. If I wanted to watch Gamera's past battles I would either watch those movies again or look them up on youtube. The alien spaceship is a such a blatant rip-off of the Imperial Star Destroyer, that I'm surprised that George Lucas did not sue somebody. This movie was supposed to save the studio from bankruptcy but it ended up putting the final nail in their coffin because the movie flopped upon release. This movie is the "Godzilla's Revenge" of the Gamera franchise, it is the absolute low-point of the series. It is awful no matter how you look at it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Admittedly, I thought this was going to be a hell of a lot worse than it was, I'm not saying that it was GOOD, but it could've been worse. Basically, this acts as a montage of the Showa series of Gamera but with extra plot. Using footage from Gamera vs. Baragon, Gyaos, Viras, Guiron, Jiger and Zigra. With a new funky soundtrack. I won't bother going into any more detail about the stock footage so the rest of this review is only mentioning the new stuff. Let's start with plot. Gamera: Super Monster tells the story of an evil alien race who try to take over the Earth by sending Gamera's previous foes to destroy him, one by one. Similar to the plot of Godzilla: Final Wars (2004) but done in the completely wrong way. The special effects for all these new scenes were poor, mostly just the same shot of Gamera bluescreened onto a certain background, or the same shot of a space ship. The 'space women's flying was well done, for 1980. Although, the movie contained a hell of alot of jump cuts through teleportation and transformation. And I still don't understand why anybody thought that anime should be in this film. Galaxy Express 999 and Space Battleship Yamato were just thrown in to the scenes where Gamera flies through space inexplicably Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rob Humanick Slant Magazine No film featuring a half-dozen skyscraper-sized monsters duking it out can possibly justify being this lethargic.
