Audience Member I think the message that’s really lost in this film is that Filipinos have mastered food from a place of little means and colonial oppression using ingredients from right outside of our doors without the ability to make luxuriously expensive cuisine. So the movement is to take our gem of a food and give it to gentrifying hipster colonizers that have made our neighborhoods disappear? I had a real problem with this. I hope that the goal of these Filipino chefs is to eventually make our food more accessible and in turn truly giving it to the masses and truly making it accessible for all people.
