Steve D Rains is the only thing that impressed me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Ed M Claude Reins is great, but the movie is a standard pot boiler. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/15/22 Full Review stu b Claude Rains is the urbane host of a true-crime radio show whose inner circle (most of it, anyway) has no idea what he's REALLY been up to. A suicide that was anything but...a young lady, presumed dead, who pops up unexpectedly, and then has no recollection of having tied the knot: the story nearly falters under the weight of its labyrinthian plot but, thanks to the performances of Rains himself and 40s-50s noir icon Audrey Totter--not to mention an exciting car chase and the moody black-and-white photography--"The Unsuspected", while not quite unmissable, is definitely worth a look. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/13/21 Full Review ashley h The Unsuspected is a fantastic film. It is about a secretary of an affably suave radio mystery host who mysteriously commits suicide after his wealthy young niece disappears. Claude Rains and Joan Caulfield give excellent performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Michael Curtiz did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this movie because of the drama and mystery. The Unsuspected is a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review deke p _ The UNSUSPECTED" 1947! The GREAT CLAUDE RAINES!! XLNT! Plays a talk RADIO guy way back then!, whose show specializes in telling REAL CRIME stories, much like the popular podcasts currently! Very long twisty movie, with so many complicated relationships it was hard to keep them all straight in my head. SPOILER ALERT, turns out he committed murders! Saw it again 12.12.2021, on late nite Movies Channel 13.3VERY interesting. Great film noir. And some great scenes: the out of control car careening on curvy mountain road. And the scene at the garbage dump with the hero trapped in a trunk about to be trashed. And JOAN CAULFIELD was hot.
