The film goes only to Mubarak's abrupt exit, and confines the ongoing struggle over democracy in Egypt to a final title card. Still, it is a stirring piece of work. Go to Full Review

01/16/2013 As much as I followed the events of Tahir Square, this film made me aware of how much I missed. Most striking about this film however is the intimacy created between the viewer and those featured. Watching Uprising is an emotional and intellectual experience that ties you to the people of Egypt in an extraordinary way. In addition to those involved in the uprising, the filmmaker was able to access scholars, reporters and State Department officials who offer critical perspective on the events of 2011 as well as the history that led to the rebellion. You leave the theater fascinated, entertained and keenly interested in the uncertain future of the Egyptian people. See more 01/16/2013 I attended the NYC premiere of the documentary film "Uprising" last night. The film is a documentary of the revolution that toppled Egyptian strongman Hosni Mubarak from power. Tightly edited, with a strong narrative, the film depicts the courageous student leaders of the revolt, who started intending only a protest, how social media and Internet catalyzed the revolt, and how the murderous brutality of Mubarak's security forces escalated a simple protest into a full-scale revolution. Brilliantly and movingly done, and a tribute to the most basic human "Right of the People to alter or abolish" destructive government.
