James Agee TIME Magazine In polite concern to grant the intelligence of moviegoers, Actor-Producer Mason has underplayed so drastically that his surgeon fails to exhibit enough intensity. As a result, the whole last reel of the film groans like a car trying to do 80 in low gear. Mar 2, 2018 Full Review Josephine O'Neill Daily Telegraph (Australia) Yet in spite of its original plot... The Upturned Glass is a muted, fairly rambling affair. Bill B A little long, but unusual. It could have been a much better if it took a different direction when the key fell out the window. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Mary C Excellent suspense. Watched 3 times before I realized the second doctor (older gent ) w head injury patient, probably did see the body in the back of the car. He had to retrieve a medical item for the home surgery & he retrieved it without saying anything to the young surgeon until the surgery was completed. After this he said "you are mad". Found ending sad but just. As a nurse, enjoyed watching the operating scenarios of that time. The reality of the operations was stretched but added significantly to the movie for me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review Rafi แก้ว M Stylish, compelling story about a brain surgeon with an obsession, and a bad solution to his problem. Great dynamic between quiet and energetic scenes. James Mason is young, fresh and serious, and I was unable to predict the outcome until the dramatic finale. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/23 Full Review william k Good atmospheric camerawork and a seemingly effortless performance by James Mason enhance this otherwise unsophisticated psychological drama; the finale is quite suspenseful, though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Moody British film noir with a fine performance by James Mason. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A doctor dispenses death and healing with blind impartiality--James Mason as an unsympathetic protagonist steals the show!!
