A peasant couple, Pelayo (Asdrubal Melendez) and Elisenda (Daysi Granados), find a mysterious old man (Fernando Birri) as a hurricane rages. Instead of arms, the stranger sprouts two large wings. The couple shelters him and exploits him for paying customers, turning their home into a freak show. Many of the villagers, though, begin to suspect that the angel is not what he seems. Soon, a traveling carnival shows up, and the villagers gravitate to the spider woman (Márcia Barreto) on display.
