Dwight Brown DwightBrownInk.com Sometimes there’s too many cooks in the kitchen. Sometimes there are too many storylines in a movie. Same difference. Rated: 2/4 Nov 11, 2022 Full Review David Fear Rolling Stone This needs a lot more chaos energy to power it past the rough spots. None of this should detract from the movie’s good elements and better-angels best intentions. Oct 31, 2022 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) The story is a touch convoluted, but it’s a gleefully grim good time. Rated: 4/5 Oct 30, 2022 Full Review Shakyl Lambert CGMagazine Overall, Wendell and Wild is a solid entry point for introducing kids to horror. Rated: 7.5/10 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Kyle Logan Castle of Chills From Selick’s classic mixture of the macabre and the whimsical in three dimensional stop-motion to shadow plays and some incredible paper cut-out art, the film is a wonder to behold. Jul 11, 2024 Full Review Damon Wise Deadline Hollywood Daily In 2009, it was considered almost shocking when Pixar’s Up addressed the subject of death... But while that door is now open, Henry Selick’s Wendell & Wild finds inventive ways to blow the hinges off. Sep 25, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Clark C Fantastic visuals and beautiful animation but a terrible script. Not involving, not well conceived. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/23/22 Full Review Johann D. M This stop-motion animated horror comedy, directed by Henry Selick and co-written with Jordan Peele, follows two scheming demon brothers, Wendell and Wild, who enlist the aid of a 13-year-old girl to summon them to the Land of the Living. With a fantastic and marvelous cinematography and innovative stop-motion animation techniques, this film is both creative and enthralling, even if its plot leans toward simplicity. The story offers enough humor to give audiences a spooky good time, complemented by its inclusive characters. Although it sometimes feels a bit overstuffed with multiple storylines, it is largely a visual treat. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Lotte K The graphics are very nice, and its great how they used the subject of death in such an open manner.. but the storyline is pretty bad and the characters are so inclusive (usually thats a good thing) but its a little to much ... Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review matthias s As a fan of Henry Selick’s films, I had high expectations for *Wendell & Wild*, especially with the brilliant casting of Key and Peele. Their chemistry added humor and charm, and the film’s creepy, gothic atmosphere was spot on. I appreciated the horror elements, which felt unique for an animated movie. However, despite these strong points, the story didn’t fully connect for me. I struggled to empathize with the lead character, which made it harder to get emotionally invested. While the overall plot had potential, it felt like a great concept that didn’t quite deliver in execution. I found myself wanting to like this film more than I ultimately did. It’s visually stunning, and the idea is there, but it lacked the captivating magic I’ve come to expect from Selick’s work. A solid film, but not as memorable as I had hoped. Three stars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Audience Member the beginning part of the movie was good. It did a good job of introducing the characters and setting up the story. What this movie lacks is a solid ending for the last 20-30 minutes you are just like what the hell is happening. This story had 2 endings that happened one right after the other that did not go together at all. For such a stacked this movie did not do justice to the actors other than James Hong, his character was really good. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Audience Member %100 one of my favorites of all time, its a must see. love the representation, the style and the music too!
