Marie Theres (Caroline Peters), a successful doctor, had special plans for her 20th wedding anniversary. Did her husband Alexander (Heikko Deutschmann) really have to break up with her that evening? Yes, he had to. Not only did he have different ideas about the evening but also about his whole life: he wants to be happier, he wants to be free, he does not want Marie Therese in his life anymore. As a result of this unpleasant turn of events, Marie Theres does what any sensible woman in her position would do: she goes for a drink, stumbles into Bigi's (Barbara Spitz) queer bar and meets Fa (Proschat Madani). Fa is fun-loving, spontaneous and unattached. She is open about her love life. Even though the very inhibited doctor isn't Fa's type, she still takes Marie Theres home after a boozy evening. Marie Theres however is too drunk to remember what they did or did not do. As their worlds collide, feelings emerge but nothing is simple. There is no straight path for Marie Theres and Fa!

Sara Clements Next Best Picture What a feeling to have a movie like this, one that leaves you with nothing but glee. Rated: 9/10 Oct 29, 2024 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com While What a Feeling would have likely worked just fine as a simple rom-com, Rohrer digs deeper here. Rated: 3.0/4.0 Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Jonita Davis The Black Cape (Medium) 'What a Feeling' brings a fresh and vital perspective to a trope that’s as old as film itself. And she does it without sacrificing the story, the romance, and the comedy. Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Even though it feels a bit frantic and out of control, writer-director Kat Rohrer creates an engaging mix of earthy interaction and nutty slapstick. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Elena Lazic Cineuropa From a familiar set of tropes, Rohrer crafts an intelligent if rather predictable portrait of women in middle age who still have a lot to learn -- but also a lot to feel, enjoy and experience, about themselves and the world. Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Sarah Manvel In Their Own League All that matters really is the friends you make along the way, and it’s so refreshing to see a movie which is as grown up as its characters about how we must adapt to the changes which come to us all.
