ethanpaul "What do I do now" is a darkly comedic and thrilling film that tells the story of the Kim family, who live in a cramped, basement-level apartment in a poor neighborhood in Seoul. When the son, Ki-woo, gets a job as a tutor for the wealthy Park family, the Kims see an opportunity to improve their lot in life. But as the Kims become more entangled with the Parks, they realize that the gulf between the rich and poor is wider than they ever could have imagined. Bong Joon-ho's direction is masterful, creating tension and suspense that builds steadily throughout the film. The performances from the cast are superb, particularly Song Kang-ho as the Kim family patriarch and Cho Yeo-jeong as the naive and oblivious Mrs. Park. The film is both a scathing commentary on class inequality and a gripping thriller, blending genres seamlessly. The cinematography is also stunning, capturing the stark contrast between the Kims' dingy basement apartment and the Parks' immaculate, modern mansion. The film's use of space and framing adds to the tension and sense of claustrophobia that permeates the story. Overall, "What do I do now" is a brilliant and thought-provoking film that deserves all of the critical acclaim it has received. It's a must-see for fans of both foreign and thriller films, and it will leave you thinking about it long after the credits roll. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
