Society has long pressured women into an either/or situation: Either you raise a family, or you pursue a career. This documentary features five women who do not accept such a division but instead strive to balance their artistic pursuits with raising children. Rather than being detrimental, the challenges of each pursuit reinforce and enrich those of the other. This is examined within the larger context of women's representation in the male-dominated art world.

Wesley Morris Boston Globe Rated: 2/4 Nov 24, 2011 Full Review Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times With its playfully pointed use of archival clips and with its subjects' striking talents on display, the well-crafted film celebrates courage. Rated: 4/5 Apr 3, 2009 Full Review Ty Burr Boston Globe Rather than creating a work of lament or complaint, the filmmakers embark on a series of feel-good profiles of working women artists -- in such places as Providence, Cambridge, and Taos, N.M. -- who also happen to be mothers. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 9, 2009 Full Review Julie Washington Cleveland Plain Dealer Who Does She Think She Is? is a must-see for anyone of any gender who is trying to mute the naysaying voices and listen to their inner artist. Aug 17, 2017 Full Review Jeremy Heilman MovieMartyr.com The film's clear-eyed view of the art world is tough to argue with, but routes to change in the status quo are beyond the its scope. Rated: 46/100 Jul 18, 2012 Full Review Ron Wilkinson Monsters and Critics An unabashed polemic promoting more female artist exhibitions, and art sales, this film is as entertaining as it is one-sided. Inspiring enough that men, too, might be moved to artistry. Rated: 7/10 Apr 13, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
