Musician Enrico Belli (Armando Francioli) is in desperate need of a patron. In order to make a good impression with the womanizing Count D'Origo (Gino Cervi), he arranges to switch his real wife, Ottavia (Gina Lollobrigida), for a pretty prostitute named Geraldine (Nadia Gray). The count will get the prostitute; the musician will get the commission. Needless to say, things don't go according to plan -- especially when Enrico grows increasingly attracted to Geraldine and jealous of the count.
