Critics Consensus

Though Wolf Creek is effectively horrific, it is still tasteless exploitation.

Avril C Wolf Creek is a truely horrific and haunting movie. You find yourself pulled into the fear and horror felt by the backpackers as they are hunted, and the environment of the Austalian bush becomes its own kind of melevalant presence which adds to the overall feel of the movie, I will admit however that this movie does not capture the intended humer of the character of Mick Taylor as well as the second movie. But overall this has become one of my personal favorite movies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Jeremy A Not an awful hillbilly kidnap tale. Expected more from the ending. 3* Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review Audience Member It’s hard hitting yet with rehashed themes and plot. But it’s not the plot itself that’s the main draw of this film, it’s the portrayal of a sick, cruel and twisted villain by John Jarrett that makes the film. Even that laugh and his comments of sexual innuendo will make you very uncomfortable. That’s the whole reason this film exists. It’s not feel good entertainment or a unique and complex plot. It’s minimalist horror designed to get a specific response. For that, it’s perfect. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review Shobhit B The plot of this movie is same as we see in many horror movies. Some friends go for a journey or have some celebration in a place and then caught in a dangerouse situation , getting attacked or killed by some super natural entity , serial killer or animal . So the plot is almost same but what really matter in such movies is amount of tension and thrill which this movie is succed to deliberating to the audience. It just 1.39 hour long but the horror do not start immediately . First half is all about character building , it make you care about characters and in last 45 minutes tension and thrill start which is very good thing. Unlike many horror/ slasher movies such as Wrong Turn series , Evil dead , it is not debend on ghore but surprise the audience with situation. The main flows is there is nothing new to add up in the plot ,we have already seen such kind of concept many times. Overall if you are in a mood to watch a slasher movie where you do not have to think so much , you can try it at once. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review K P SNORE!!!! Sorry... for snoring so loud... SNORE!!!!! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/06/24 Full Review Alison V The first time I saw this it actually made me feel disturbed/uneasy afterwards, which to me is a success. When something is based in some kind of true story like this allegedly is, that also takes it to a different level of horror for me.. culty classic horror film you should def see at least once Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
