      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Colorful and energetic but lacking a compelling story, Wonder Park is little more than a competently made diversion for very young viewers.

Артем РYou know, this film is impossible to describe with a palette of emotions; it's so empty that you're even amazed. In principle, he looks nice, the story is kind, simple, the heroes is almost not annoying, but this work is missing something, it lacks zest, memorable elements, bright characters, at least something more original. Wonder Park is too abstract, it's not some kind of exciting world with its own interesting interesting devices and unimaginably creative images, it's just literally a children's fantasy with the most expected cliches. All the main characters, except June herself, are mega-passing minor ones, even the evil here is very abstract - darkness. The only thing that could save the movie was the main conflict. The fact is that this very darkness appeared due to the fact that June abandoned his park after he was very worried about his sick mother. In the end, when the park is fully restored, the darkness remains somewhere in the clouds, to which June says that she should stay for a while, and that the park is a product of the girl's psychological state is also clear. But the story is very sparse and rushes through these themes, lacking high stakes thrills and real danger. I'm not asking for great harshness here, it's just that this lack of certain plot elements, in my opinion, kills the entire potential of the movie. Wonder Park is another clear example of how the story of the heroes of a work decides everything. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Madilin S While the plot and the movie itself had potential to be great, this falls short. Its not a story of a kid full of imagination but a psychotic one. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tara Brady Irish Times This writer would like to thank the young gentleman who vigorously kicked the back of her chair during the family preview screening, thereby keeping her awake. Rated: 2/5 Apr 12, 2019 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian You and your children will have sat through many worse films that took far easier routes to the screen - which is not to say that Wonder Park is not immediately forgettable. Rated: 2/5 Apr 12, 2019 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh Metro Newspaper (UK) Kind of a poor man's Inside Out or Up, the story fails to earn its emotional stripes and instead goes haywire with non-stop hecticness involving barely sketched characters. That understands children can handle complex ideas about real life and for that, it is splendiferous.
