In this Oscar-winning documentary, legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau explores Continental Shelf Station Two, an early-1960s attempt at underwater living located 10 meters below the surface of the Red Sea off the coast of Sudan. Subjected to constant observation and medical experimentation, the six men taking part in the experiment have air, food, water, electricity and other life essentials, as well as a small two-man submarine that they can use for underwater exploration.

It is, in the strictest sense, wonderful to look at, a pucture of hallucinatory beauty. Go to Full Review

Leaburn O Feb 8 The second Cousteau documentary to win an Academy award and certainly the better of the two. Felt like a cheap Bond film of the time with crazy futuristic Moonraker notions of the future of man beneath the waves. It was interesting in its own wacky way but still hasn’t aged well. Watched on YouTube. See more 06/11/2010 fascinating doc and look at early scuba. See more 08/04/2008 Highly stylistic, humorous and human. Cousteau's vision of life underwater is beautiful.
