What to Know

Critics Consensus

Liberally adapting Emily Brontë's classic story with a heavy dose of carnality and chic stylization, Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights might not be the stuff of high literature but it is a visually vibrant pleasure.

Audience Says

Draped in vibrant silks and Gothic broodiness, Wuthering Heights strays from the source novel but captures the Brontë vibe with style and emotional panache.

Everyone is 12. Why has Emerald Fennell adapted one of the more chasmic and ambitious tragedies in English literature into a poppy, gooey, thuddingly literal work of sexy fan fiction? Everyone is … you get it. Go to Full Review

It is difficult to recommend a movie that goes so far out of its way to be more racist than its 19th-century source material. Go to Full Review

Robbie and Elordi are beautiful camera subjects and capable movie stars but may as well be Masterpiece Theatre action figures (or Barbie dolls) given how clumsily they’re wielded here. Go to Full Review

Fennell misreads "Wuthering Heights" entirely by her inclination to create her past fantasy. Go to Full Review

Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are miscast in this highly sexualised and stupidly melodramatic reimagination by Emerald Fennell. Go to Full Review

Fennell is weird. That’s the point. She makes films that swing, not films that behave, and I’ll take a committed vision that occasionally faceplants over tasteful safety every day of the week. Go to Full Review

Pamela T 35m I loved this movie. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi give great performances as Cathy and Heathcliff. The chemistry between them is steamy. I got choked up watching scenes with them when they wanted to be together but couldnt and the ending left me in tears. Great tragic romance. See more nicole 1h Horrible execution, boring plot, not compelling whatsoever. See more farm01 1h The movie didnt really follow the book closely. It was far more sexualized than the book. The acting was good. See more Lili 2h The cinematography was beautiful, acting was okay for many close-ups, but the story was not to my liking. See more Gail L 3h Although there were a few scenes that I thought didn't add anything to the story and it didn't end the way I would like it to it was beautifully filmed and the sexual tension and love story was all well worth seeing 3 times. See more Tracy M 3h The way it was filled, the actors portrayal of each character, and music, costumes, and everything. Absolutely wonderful movie. See more Read all reviews
