this movie started the whole modern superhero trend, but it is kind of a mixed bag looking back. Hugh Jackman is amazing as Wolverine from his very first scene, and the way the movie handles people hating mutants gives it a cool, serious vibe. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are also great as the rival leaders. But the movie moves super fast and spends way too much time explaining who everyone is, so you don't really get to know most of the characters. Plus, the all-black leather outfits are pretty boring, and some of the effects look really dated now. It is a fun piece of history and laid the groundwork for everything that came after, but it is just okay overall.

What Do They Call You, Wheels? This is such a good comic book movie. The opening at the gate with Magneto hits me emotionally every time. This is where so many iconic characters first came to the big screen. Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart are the standouts for me. Every character has their own personality and brings this world to life. The effects were groundbreaking for the time and still look good, especially Mystique's transformations, Storm's powers, and Magneto. The soundtrack is fantastic too. I love the message about people fearing mutants simply because they're different. Magneto's plan fits perfectly into that theme. Wolverine is also hilarious. The dialogue can be rough, with the one liners going way over the top. Storm's toad and lightning line is painfully bad. I also never loved Rogue and thought the casting felt a little off. Regardless, this is a classic and the beginning of an incredible run of X Men movies. It has flaws, but I still love it.
