Audience Member I haven’t seen this movie in forever, definitely not in the same state of mind as I was the first time I saw it. Seeing this fresh off the heels of finishing the animated series, it may not have the same uplifting tone of the animated show but it has the same loyal spirit of a proper adaptation. With the exception of… actually there is no exception, I feel like this is one of the best casted movies in history, not just comic book movies, but in film in general. For the inevitable reboots, it will suck to be the actors chosen to replace some of these people. You have, not just one, but a few generations of fans that are married to this cast. It won’t be impossible, but recasting will be interesting. For now, as I enjoyed this gem of a movie, with the power of hindsight, you can see how influential this movie is to comic movies nowadays. It was totally ahead of its time, faithful as it could be to the source material and just a fun movie to watch. Some of the dialogue is weird but that’s really it. Maybe I myself am still married to the nostalgia that this film gives off, but hey I’m not Robert Ebert, I’m just a man enjoying movies dammit! The action scenes were great and the cgi is great for 2000. Visually maybe it doesn’t hold up, but when it comes to story and just overall enjoyability, this movie is amazing. Something here for any comic book fan to enjoy. Really cementing what Blade got started. I love the mood of this movie, the stakes, how dark and series it is. I think the MCU could do this for a few movies and show some varieties. It's really refreshing to go back and watch a movie like this. Great villain team! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Gabriel F One of my favorite marvel movies growing up. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Adrian G Me encantan esas épocas en las que las películas de superhéroes no necesitaban comedia para ser entretenidas. Buena trama buenos protagonistas, buena adaptación. Esto nos demuestra que empezaron muy bien las películas de Marvel Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jami Bernard New York Daily News The X-Men comic books have spawned a cottage industry of mutant characters, and the movie helps make sense of these legions while offering the established fan base something new to cheer. Rated: 3/4 Jul 15, 2015 Full Review Lisa Alspector Chicago Reader Exciting mainly because anything can happen and does, the movie drags a bit as it approaches a climax set on top of the Statue of Liberty. But once there it revives. Jul 15, 2015 Full Review Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer This is a film that should satisfy fans of the hugely popular comic book and audiences who can't tell one uncanny X-Man from another. Mutants rule. Rated: 3/4 Jul 15, 2015 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review There are potent motives behind every character, and the actionized plot resembles a morality play more than typical good vs. evil superhero fluff. Rated: 3/4 Dec 15, 2023 Full Review Eve Tushnet Patheos I don't care what you think, still my favorite superhero films... Jul 23, 2021 Full Review Tony Black Cultural Conversation Though not always discussed in the annals of great comic-book cinema, or even considered the height of its own franchise, X-Men is a seminal moment in superhero cinema.
