Serena Donadoni Village Voice The Singhs aren't able to make Yadvi more distinctive than any other women whose fate is controlled by the hubris of men, or who've lost the wealth their titles once afforded them. May 30, 2018 Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times Unfortunately, while its intentions are as pure as the heart of its heroine, the biography offers little depth or insight into Yadvi. May 24, 2018 Full Review Reza Noorani The Times of India The entire film is about maintaining the legacy of a princess, but a weak execution coupled with lackluster performances and choppy editing make it a dreary watch. Audience Member Princess Yaduvansh Kumari of Patiala, The Dignified Princess, is a lovely independent Film! What a wonderful sentiment is inherent in the life story of Ms. Singh's Grandmother, Yavdi! The film portrays the Princess Yavdi's unwavering integrity as she endures hardship and heartache, and through it all, she remains steadfast and true to her convictions! Her integrity, grace and dignity are qualities that are sorely lacking in today's materialistic, narcissistic and oftentimes crude socio-political and cultural environment. The film's portrayal of these noble qualities serves as primer for us all as to how to live. The film, some of which is shot on location in India, perfectly captures the lushness of India. Bravo to the cinematography and editorial efforts! Mention must also be made of the film's wonderful costume design. It is clear that the film's wardrobe person/designer paid great attention to detail in order to portray the vibrancy, elegance and opulence for this period film. What excellent life lessons are portrayed in Yaduvansh Kumari of Patiala, the Dignified Princess. This film's inherent message, i.e., "Integrity in the face of adversity," is a shining example for us all. Bravo to Ms. Singh: she has so touchingly memorialized her dear grandmother's life story in the form of this lovely film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great. Exotic. Beautiful. Practical struggle. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/03/18 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful, heartfelt portrayal of a noble life! Yadvi is a gorgeous, heartfelt film, where excellent acting joins with a great script to bring a bygone era to life. Jyoti Singh excels both in the starring role, the noble princess Yadvi, and also as the film's director. I have no idea how she did both at the same time! Excellent sets and richly lit cinematography make this movie a delight for the eyes from beginning to end. The script, written by Gauri Singh, enables the biographical portrait to gently and poetically unfold, gracefully bringing the viewer along through each phase of Yadvi's life, where tragedy and nobility of character are inextricably interwoven. My pranams to all who were involved in this beautiful project! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review kj p This is a wonderful journey to go on. Very well enacted by Jyoti Singh the lead actress of the movie. All the characters in the movie have justified the presentation of their roles. I would recommend anyone who would want to learn about the ups and downs of life and not live in the glory of what we have. should surely watch this movie.
