What happens when a ten-year-old little girl redirects the lives of her two kidnappers? From the creative minds of writers Philip Angelotti, Jr. and Steven Langa comes an urban comedy filled with characters reminiscent of an Elmor Leonard novel. Major League hopeful Joey Carlucci (Angelotti) and his childhood friend Dominick Mazzetti (Langa), born and bred in Hoboken, NJ, are sentenced to a life of small-time debt collecting, until ordered by their boss, Bookie "Big Tommy" Cesaro (Joe Cortese -- Against The Ropes/American History X/The Rat Pack) to find and collect $400,000 from deadbeat Willie Starks (Brian McNamara -- Army Wives/Arachnophobia/Caddyshack II/Billionaire Boys Club). Discovering that Willie has relocated to Los Angeles, Joey and Dom pack their bags and head out west -- only to find themselves in a world they never imagined. From an overzealous bellhop (Reynaldo Gallegos -- American Sniper/Rambo/Spider Man 3/Bad Boys II), and two crazy gun-toting Cubans (Pepe Serna, American Me/Scarface and Matt Gallini, 2 Fast 2 Furious ), to the unplanned kidnapping of Willie's 10-year-old daughter, Joey and Dom find their world spinning completely out of control, culminating in their madcap rescue by Joey's girlfriend Nickie (Ellina McCormick -- Mr. Fix It/Escape to Grizzy Mountain/Looney Tunes Back in Action). Philip Angelotti, Jr. makes his directorial debut, and with the craftsmanship of a seasoned professional, Mr. Angelotti deftly constructs a world balancing drama and comedy.

Mike D Sep 28 You Got Nothin' is an absolute joy. The story is intriguing. The dialogue is crisp. The humor is subtle and enjoyable. The directing and editing is on-the-money, with superb pacing. And across the board, the performances are top-notch. Script co-writers Philip Angelotti and Steven Langa are of particular note. They clearly work well together as writing partners. And as the film's main co-stars, childhood friends "Joey" (Angelotti) and "Dom" (Langa), they have excellent chemistry. I'd love to see more from this duo. My only complaint is that we were unable to access this movie much, much sooner. But better late than never! I highly recommend this film! Finally, I have to go with Mays. (Watch the film and you'll know what I'm talkin' about!) See more David F Sep 8 Being a transplant from Brooklyn New York and growing up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn in the 70s 80s and 90s around all wise guys . This was the most authentic and comical wise guy movie I’ve ever scene ! Very enjoyable for the whole family . Best acting was performed by the character Joey ! He’s the funniest character in the whole film See more Philip A Sep 7 A truly enjoyable movie- among the best that I have seen on both the TV and entertainment Networks, and clearly better than what is being shown in the theater today. The story is filled with both humor and compassion. It’s twisting, comical plot, and hysterical one-liners, keeps you riveted to the screen, all the way to it’s unexpected ending. The acting is outstanding, particularly from the new faces i.e., Joey, Dom, Nickie and Rachel as well as the more familiar theater and TV actors that were appropriately cast. This movie is definitely a keeper. The moment Joe Cortese (American History X, Green Book) sets the screen on fire as "Big Tommy" you know you are in for a real treat. The film reminds me a lot of 1998's Mafia! starring Jay Mohr, which is also a gem worth seeking out; however, You Got Nothin' adds a more dramatized aspect, which provides an extra level of realism in my honest opinion. The cinematography is excellent, great cameos, gritty settings, and a solid story to keep you captivated. I'd say the only honest downside is the female casting, as they seem to just be "there", as opposed to being integral parts of the story, but don't let that stray you away from the film, as this is truly a great indie flick worth seeking out! As the review says, it's an Absolute Must-See! See more Read all reviews
