Gab Z Looks like Japan loves to cast Takumi as an errand boy of a dying highschool classmate. Takuya Okada (Takumi Kitamura) and his classmate Mamizu Watarase (Mei Nagano) are highshool classmates. Mamizu has a terminal disease called "Luminiscence Disease". Okay, not sure if it's a real disease but in the movie the sick person glows literally. When the luminiscence in your body glows brightly it means you are about to die. It reminds me of a dying star. The ultimate glow before dying into blackhole. True enough, the dying star metaphor was mentioned in the film. Takuya offers to to help Mamizu do her bucket list and fell in love in the process. Compared to his "Let Me Eat Your Pancreas" movie, with the dramatic treasure hunting. He proposed to her under the moonlight and Mamizu glowed, literally. Later it will be discovered that Takuya himself himself is still grieving over the loss of his sister. The Mamizu's bucketlist is a distraction and a healing process for him. Until the end of Mamizu's life he followed her wishes to the tee. A voice recording was passed on to Takuya on her death. He began to reminisce the bucket list but this time with a different point of view. There are a lot of tearjerker moments get your tissues ready. Storytelling wise and character developments, I prefer this film over "Let Me Eat Your Pancreas". The female lead is written better too. P.S One of Mamizu's wishes is to be Juliet in a play. Takuya obliged and became Juliet hahahahaha. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
