Kat Sachs Chicago Reader Of the new-to-me films, I enjoyed Omar Ali Khan's 2007 Pakistani horror film Zibahkhana. Oct 24, 2024 Full Review Keith H. Brown Eye for Film Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 11, 2008 Full Review Laura Clifford Reeling Reviews ...a pastiche of classics of the genre and flat out homage to the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" that observes all the conventions with a twinkle in its eye. Rated: B+ Jul 6, 2008 Full Review Louis Proyect rec.arts.movies.reviews Smart, funny rip-off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre that does not take itself too seriously and that is loads of fun. Jun 21, 2008 Full Review Matthew Sorrento Film Threat Overall, a measured mix of clichd horror bits and wit to joke about them keeps Hell's Ground even for a horror audience. Rated: 3/5 Jun 7, 2008 Full Review Scott Weinberg Cinematical So while you're being assaulted with ideas, characters and monsters that are clearly 'borrowed' from other sources, well, it's just quite the novelty to witness Pakistan's first gore movie. Audience Member Okay so it comes from Pakistan...but it's still dull. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay so it's the first Pakistan horror movie..so what..It's Boring. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Pakistan's first (and possibly last) zombie /slasher/ gore film. Its follows the horror rules (see "Cabin in the Woods") Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Anoyingly westernised. First half Zombie flick, second half 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Pretty cliche ridden and offers nothing new or interesting except its a film from Pakistan. Dont recommend. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Declaring itself as the first Pakistani gore film, Hell's Ground does have quite of bit of elements working for it, but in the long run it is just a homage. The film starts with a group of teens going somewhere they probably shouldn't, but they are still going anyways. Before you no it the group is getting picked off one by one by either zombies or a killer that wears a hood and kills with a massive morning star, which is extremely effective. The film does don a cool Pakistani soundtrack and just goes to show thatore slashers need morning stars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculous and absolutely hilarious.....unintentionally. Omar Khan seemed very proud of himself for creating a film that was "something new for Pakistan." Well buddy, it may be new for Pakistan, but it's not new for the rest of the world....namely Hollywood, as you've ripped off Dawn of the Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre rolled into one. On top of that, no explanation is ever given for the "mysterious disease" or the animal-like man who bites (and infects) O.J. The cast is so funny and completely unnatural in their acting. It's almost painful to watch them. HOWEVER, I definitely WOULD recommend this movie for anyone and everyone who wants a genuine laugh. It's funny. It's not meant to be funny, but it definitely is. "Baby" was a novel idea, I won't deny that. Haha. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
