What to Know

Critics Consensus

A quiet, dialogue-driven thriller that delivers with scene after scene of gut-wrenching anxiety. David Fincher also spends more time illustrating nuances of his characters and recreating the mood of the '70s than he does on gory details of murder.

Adam Nayman The Ringer More than any American movie of the past decade, Zodiac accepts and embraces irresolvability, which may be why it's so hypnotically rewatchable. Oct 4, 2021 Full Review Namrata Joshi Outlook Downey Jr is perfect as the alcoholic wastrel of a crime reporter Paul Averi, as is Mark Raffalo as the dependable cop David. Rated: 3/4 Jan 25, 2019 Full Review Christopher Orr The New Republic [W]here Se7en, with its stygian gloom and theatrical executions, inflated the serial killer genre to gothic proportions, Zodiac lets the air back out. It is methodical rather than macabre, clinical rather than cruel. Sep 18, 2008 Full Review Jack Walters Loud and Clear Reviews "Zodiac is David Fincher’s take on the investigative thriller, an astute character study that’s driven forward by the dark truth of the killer’s crimes." Moira I Good thriller, fine cast Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/18/22 Full Review Patrick G. 9.3/10 Such a good movie. Psych thriller classic in my eyes. Loaded cast. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/25 Full Review Jeremi B En entrant dans Zodiac, j’étais chargé d’attentes. Mon attention a parfois flanché. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/11/25 Full Review Tom C. True crime at its finest. Doesn’t get better than this Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Julian S Meticulous but never thrilling, ZODIAC drags at 157 minutes — a slow burn that never quite catches. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/24/25 Full Review Kazi Z not as much violence as i expected. It is not worthy of R rate. Jake Gyllenhaal performence is better and rdj also suitable for his role.I also added that last ending is't well.Villain performance doesn't give satisfied.
