Wickedly funny and featuring plenty of gore, Zombieland is proof that the zombie subgenre is far from dead.

Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online It's an okay DVD rental choice but doesn't go beyond that. Rated: C- Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Lisa Rosman Us Weekly With its quick pace and witty writing, it's a nonstop, snarky ride. Jul 19, 2017 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator It is never properly scary. Mostly, it is just very silly, but because the film knows it is silly, it's all rather infectious and not the big, cliché-pumped bore it might otherwise have been. Sep 22, 2014 Full Review Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews Zombieland has all the attributes of a pure blockbuster: a phenomenal cast, a straightforward narrative packed with thrilling sequences, a short runtime with fast pacing, compelling characters, and thousands of zombies. Rated: A- Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand The zombie comedy was hardly fresh territory when "Zombieland" came along (and really, will anyone top "Shaun of the Dead"?) but it nonetheless does a fine job of mining the humor inherent in the end of the world. Mar 12, 2022 Full Review George Fenwick Stuff.co.nz For all its silliness, this is not, pardon the pun, brainless; rather, it’s a ruthlessly funny explosion of zombie-film cliches that somehow doubles as a charming road movie. Sarah G Zombieland is unique genius that will be hard to ever replicate. Enjoyable over and over again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Audience Member 'Welcome to Zombieland' Even 15 years later this is a totally awesome movie! Our world has been overrun by the undead with nearly all of humanity gone or turned We follow a small group of survivors played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin Eisenberg plays Tallahassee, he’s on his own ever since the zombie-pocalypse and lives by a rule book to survive Things change when he runs into cowboy Florida, along with two sisters Wichita and Little Rock They become a small family unit with guns taking out the undead but can they actually survive together growing some attachment? the acting is good, the cast is great and the humor is non-stop laugh-out-loud funny pretty neat to imagine our post-modern day world infested by the undead remember the rules and you'll walk away unharmed oh and the cameo in this movie will knock your socks off Great laughs next to great gore even though it has a short runtime yet still finds ways to entertain while mocking the genre itself with snappy dialogue thanks to Ruben Fleischer’s directing Still one of my favorite movies of 2009 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Sean W any movie with Woody is great for me Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Johannes S Just a great and funny horror-comedy. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review Augustine J One of the funniest horror comedies of all time. It has a great cast, amazing characters and one of the tightest runtimes you will find. You’ve got a truly incredible cameo by Bill Murray and a whole lot of rules. You’ve got Woody Harrelson as a badass on a quest to find one last twinkie. You’ve got Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, who play two sisters dead-set on getting to an amusement park. And in the middle of it all you have Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus who just wants to survive. These characters and all of their hilarious interactions is really what makes this movie great. Everyone of them plays their character damn near perfectly and all of the characters come together to make a really fun story. This movie is also really short, something that you don’t see a lot in movies nowadays. It’s less than an hour and a half. So what’s your excuse? Go watch it. Right now. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review IrateTyrant C Outstanding melting pot of subgenres Zombieland was groundbreaking in many ways. It replicated the comedic aspects of the zombedy sub-genre from previous movies such as Shaun of the Dead and Peter Jackson's Braindead but moved it into a more self-aware direction. Even though it was hilarious with its monologues and dialog, it seemed to borrow more aesthetically from Grindhouse's Planet Terror with its gore and action, which made it a melting pot of previous zombie movies that satisfied the viewer with adventures and intelligent plot. The acting was groundbreaking too. Woody Harrelson was a brilliant choice, harnessing his wildness from Natural Born Killers, but taming it with the buddy-cop sentimentality of movies like Lethal Weapon alongside Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg delivers a breakthrough performance, and probably his most relatable and inspiring. Emma Stone appears in a similarly interesting role. The movie's surprise cameo is well-known now but suffice to say it reestablished one of comedy's greatest actors as a household name. Overall, this movie was such a joy to see, and as much as it borrowed from movies and subgenres from the past, it remains nonreplicable by its followers.
