I liked it way more than the former, which appeals to 30+ year old Sypha fanboys, but here, Richter was stripped from his heroic character in favor of Maria and etc. although he's the protagonist. Also, even though I don't like church myself, the Deats directors hate Christianity so much that they ignore Richter's canonically holy powers. Also, they're the bad guys again: unoriginal and boring. It's just fanfiction at this point, even though the original material (even bloodlines, which they somewhat include) could provide more content to be worked on. It was short too: it needed more episodes to correct the inconsistencies in the plot. I don't get why professional writers committed noob mistakes like this... Budget BS. It could have been great and there were some good ideas, but the execution was poor. I don't even mind Anette; rather like her, but she's treated as more of a protagonist than Richter himself. A wasted chance.

Wtf did I just watch ….

      • Nov 22, 2023

furthers the excellent groundwork of the first show. has even more interesting characters, a semi-historical setting, lots of well chosen and known classical music to underline some important, moody scenes and again excellent fighting - and yes, two gay/bi male characters, get mad, rightwinger snowflakes :)

        Thrilling ,just like it's predecessor!

      • Nov 20, 2023

I didn't enjoy the show having such one dimensional and cringe evil villains with such bland motivations ("everyone will kneel before me"? Boring). Previous show (before S4 ruined it) had vampire characters who as humans were complex and had free will and who had complex and often conflicted motivations. Having such heavy lean into "vampires - bad, humans - good" here reminds me everything that was annoying about S4 of the previous show where the writing turned so bad in comparison to S1-S3. And Nocturne seems to suffer from the same issue of treating women villains worse which also is reminiscent of S4 problems of the previous show. Not recommended if you care about a good story and interesting characters.

After the success of "Castlevania," it wasn't really surprising that Netflix made a sequel. Castlevania: Nocturne takes place centuries after its predecessor, at the time of the French Revolution. At the center of the story is once again a Belmont – Judge Belmont, to be precise. Castlevania: Nocturne has big shoes to fill due to its predecessor Castlevania, which in my opinion is a masterpiece. This sequel, like "Castlevania", is again a feast for the eyes - the animation was of course again taken over by the same studios and is therefore familiarly impressive and, above all, bloody. Unfortunately, I have to say that I would have liked more creativity when writing the main characters, as they are simply too reminiscent of the old characters from the predecessor. It's hard not to compare these characters with the ones I already know. I also think it's a shame that so little time is taken here and that a lot of things seem very rushed and hectic. I certainly understand that they wanted to show as many interesting scenes as possible in the first season, but given the popularity of the predecessor, they could have taken more time because the audience was interested from the start. Unfortunately, the plot twist was already spoiled for me personally, but it definitely makes me want to watch the second season. I'm curious to see how this series develops and whether it comes close to the genius of "Castlevania", but I'm optimistic!

Couldn't hold a candle to the first series. Lacked meaningful story telling and the characters were not fleshed out at all. The stakes were low because I didn't care about any one in the series. Visuals were good though.

I really enjoyed the original Castlevania, but am just struggling to get into Nocturne. To be honest I am more interested in background and side characters. The main crew of "hero's" are so antagonistic and annoying that I feel it's hard to impossible to engage with them. They are dumped on us and do nothing to endear themselves to the audience. Honestly the main characters come across as preachy, sulky and arrogant brats. If I met someone they behaved like them in real life I would politely nod my head in their direction and walk the other direction and avoid them like the plague.

I really want to know if someone actually shows up with a briefcase of cash to tell you how to write the story or you actually know how to write it without only carrying about DEI 100%? And then you wonder why people wont ever take RT rating serially anymore
