Judy Berman TIME Magazine But for all its big names and ambitious themes, Common Side Effects feels, in the best way possible, like the kind of indie-animation oddity you might‘ve stumbled upon at 3 a.m. on ‘90s MTV. Mar 4, 2025 Full Review Ben Travers indieWire The show usurps expectations for good reason -- and for a reason fairly common to classic conspiracy stories: to get us to rethink the way the world works. Hopefully, before it’s too late. Feb 14, 2025 Full Review Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter Wherever it goes, the result, for now, is a series that feels not quite like anything else on television. It’s unpredictable and genuinely exciting. Feb 14, 2025 Full Review Chris Gallardo Tell-Tale TV From magnetic, empathetic characters to that brooding music to the exquisite visuals, this series proves its potential as one of the best adult animated series of all time. Rated: 4.25/5 Mar 4, 2025 Full Review Nick Valdez ComicBook.com Common Side Effects is teasing a much larger mystery at play that’s going to draw you in each and every week. It’s the kind of show that’s really going to sneak up on you. Rated: 4/5 Feb 27, 2025 Full Review Nagier Chambers Big Gold Belt Media Honestly, this is one of those projects unlike anything you’ve ever seen, complete with a beautiful score and fascinating animation. m s Yawwwwn! I was there for 90s adult swim and 3am animated Mtv. This ain't it. I tried twice and couldn't finish the pilot. Vice on youtube is far more entertaining, and that's a low bar. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/12/25 Full Review Michael L Honestly had really high hopes for this series and it flopped terribly. The animation is nothing special, and the story has such huge holes in it that it's not worth giving it the benefit of the doubt the first episode tries way to hard and literally only makes sense if you are on mushrooms or drugs and even then I'd rather watch anything else. The main character is literally every junkie on the planet hoping they are the main character some how and I truly do believe the only reason this is getting such good reviews is because in today's society most people are on drugs. I made an account just to write this review because I'm tired of people recommending this show like it is the best thing since sliced bread. It's not I've watched all the released episodes and it literally can barely hold itself together as a story there are more holes in the plot than swiss cheese. Hope y'all have a lovely day. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/11/25 Full Review MANUEL M I can't wait for the next episode. So good! Love it!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Audience Member This series is absolutely fascinating, I am heavily addicted. I wish the episodes were longer and I hope they are planning to make a season 2! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review Rico R This show is absolutely a must watch. The themes are very appropriate for this era we live in. This easily could have been live action on how grounded it is but the animation really works in the benefit of the story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/06/25 Full Review Audience Member Unique show unlike anything on streaming right now. It's got a comedic element but also lots of dark stuff, some of it subtle, some of it in your face. Marshall just wants to do good and people keep trying to kill him for it, literally. I'm compelled to watch it every week and the story is brisk, but there is a melancholy after taste to it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
