The mage Frieren defeated the Demon King alongside the hero Himmel's party after a 10-year quest. Peace was restored to the kingdom. Because she is an elf, she is able to live over a thousand years. She promises Himmel and the others that she will be back to see them and then sets out on a journey by herself. Fifty years later, Frieren goes to visit Himmel and the others. She remained unchanged, but Himmel and the others have aged and only a little of their lives remain. Later, she witnesses Himmel's death. Frieren is pained by her desire to have spent more time getting to know people. With that regret in her heart, she then goes on a journey to do just that. On her journey, she meets many people and many events await her.

It’s painted with gorgeous, inviting splendor but can’t be reduced to simple escapism, thanks to its touching rumination on mortality and the short time we have with our loved ones. Go to Full Review

Una exploración del duelo y del paso del tiempo resignificando las cosas que has vivido. Bonito, emocionante, emotivo y muy épico. Visualmente espectacular. Go to Full Review

The unique premise allows for one of the most contemplative and genuinely reflective stories I’ve seen in anime, period. Go to Full Review

Gwyn T @RT04825262 2d This is suuuch a good anime :D. The animation, colour schemes and music backgrounds are so top-notch! I loved how they portrayed the story, and the battle-scenes were so well drawn. I liked how the plot focuses on the journey after the defeat of the demon lord, rather than during it, so we get to see Frieren go through her daily life. This is a much watch if you want a comforting, down to earth series, coupled with heart-pumping op magic battles! See more Ruiguang W @RuiguangW Apr 25 A bit slow for my liking, but I see why it's acclaimed. The demons are irredeemably evil, and the author intentionally prevents them from being empathized with via worn-out excuses: "They're not all bad", "They're smart and thus can become good", "We should try to coexist" etc. It avoids the pitfalls of overly Westernized thinking. It actually deconstructs Western philosophical relativism. This moral clarity of 'inherent evil' is a breath of fresh air, and makes Frieren an important work. See more Caleb G. @drcaleb Apr 5 An absolute treasure. The only problem is when you’re out of episodes, there’s nothing else out there like this gem. I need more ! See more Matthew R @RT33703829 Mar 29 I’m not usually a fan of anything that’s not isekai or straight up combat related, especially slice of life stuff like this show, I absolutely loved frieren though, it felt so unique and fresh especially given the generic nature of almost all anime’s these days. The art is wonderful and the storyline is one I haven’t encountered yet so it was just what I needed after hitting a bit of a rut and running out of anime to watch. It’s encouraged me to try different shows to what I’d usually go for which is probably the highest praise I can give any show.
