      Critics Consensus

While Kaleidoscope's interactive storytelling offers some flashy novelty, its color-coded story strands are unfortunately all in service to a disappointingly pedestrian plot.

Luther S Kaleidoscope couldn't hold my attention. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Victoria M The plot and acting were so pathetic, I barely got through episode 1. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Jacob S So much potential but such a mess. The jumping back and forth in time is awful. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review Luke Whoever decided it should be played in a random order should lose their job Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Christian T It's ok, the only thing is that you can watch it in any order apart from white last, which is the big reveal, only problem is that if you've paid attention, you have already worked out the big reveal, so makes the whole point a bit moot Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/11/23 Full Review Matthew B I admit I liked the premise of the show and as such was thinking this could be an iinteresting take on heists with a kind of whodunnit twist. Unfortunately the whodunnit part was more transparent than glass and the so called revealing clue was subtle like a brick to the face. I liked the characters within the heist but the writing and the direction deserted them coupled with the laughable make up of the 25 year before. The other characters such as the FBI agents, however, were never belieavable. I am unfortunately plagued with the need to finish what I started and I wish I had ignored it. Nice idea but really poorly executed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Nina Metz Chicago Tribune There’s just not enough story or character development here to warrant eight episodes, let alone eight episodes that are juggling a gimmick. Rated: 2/4 Feb 22, 2023 Full Review Robert Levin Newsday No matter the episode order, "Kaleidoscope" is a lot of fun. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 17, 2023 Full Review Dais Johnston Inverse No matter which order you watch the series, the characters all feel like they’re biding time until the heist. Jan 9, 2023 Full Review Sarah Ward Concrete Playground The scrambled storytelling and Esposito do plenty of heavy lifting, and overtly; thankfully, the latter alone always makes for engaging viewing. Jan 26, 2023 Full Review Diego Jemio Clarín Eric García delves into the deeper nature of some of his characters... digging into what are the characters seeking out of the heist. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/4 Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Brian Grubb Uproxx I came away from it thinking that it didn’t matter at all what order I watched the episodes in, and not in the fun puzzle-box way I think they intended.
