Lioness Season 2 sacrifices its more intimate atmosphere of Season 1 to become more political. As a result, the second season is more scattered in its execution and worldview. Go to Full Review

The second season of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness improves on the first (not a high bar), but it’s still mostly a chaotic mix of action sequences interspersed with Sheridan’s signature moralizing. Go to Full Review

Despite hitting many of the same beats expected from a show like this, Lioness is a bit of a tonal anomaly, switching between save-the-world thriller and upbeat family sitcom. Go to Full Review

Phillip H Feb 2 What is it with Taylor Sheridan and lesbian romance? First season lesbian romance. Second season had a forced but not needed lesbian romance. Like is this a kink for him? Besides that, the plot jumps. The Lioness is needed for her father but that conclusion ended up making no sense and rushed, but then the lioness isn’t needed for that and then jumps to some Iraqi site with a couple random Chinese nuclear scientists? Yeah. Not sure if that was the motive or for Taylor Sheridan to have his onscreen time looking like a super soldier taking out tanks and tens of soldiers by himself. Of course, the season just ends like the first one. No character development or what happens after battle. It just ends. Has sex with neglected husband. Attempts to bond with neglected children. They cry as she leaves again on a jet to shoot some more people. Establishes her command presence by repeatedly screeching the F word. Caricature LGBT characters, especially the butch one. Writers on this show just LOVE the F word. F'ing truck, F'ing gun. F'ing pencil. To be a Lioness, one must be A. Lesbian, B. have a great ass. Nicole Kidman might still have a great ass, but she is exempted from showing it. Nicole's acting skills: Purse her still puffy lips and walking authoritatively in pantsuits. They show the longitude and latitude of locations to bedazzle viewers as how "authentic" scenes must be. His output is astonishing, his plotting is brilliant, his dialogue is terrific. Except for one crucial factor. His tendency to insert the words 'fuck' and 'fuckin' twice into every sentence devalues the whole text. It downgrades it to the most banal blather of a Steven Seagal movie. Less is more, Taylor. No need. Stop! See more Sharang L @Scribe187 Nov 29 The geopolitics is a little hazy but the swashbuckling action more than makes up for it. Saldana rules. See more Read all reviews
