With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates -- Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz, and Miles Kittle -- must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence with their duty to their families.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Marshals confines Kayce Dutton within a dim procedural that lacks the narrative spark and intrigue that Yellowstone managed instantly, making this one ham-fisted trek.

The prolific Sheridan didn’t work on the show, which might explain why it’s a compact, somewhat predictable, network procedural. Go to Full Review

Plays less like the next chapter in the Dutton saga than a side expedition, adjacent to the family legacy but not meaningfully advancing it. Go to Full Review
Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter Mar 3
In truth, it’s too enamored of Dutton lore to let Kayce stand on his own, let alone the show around him. Go to Full Review

A generic spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's 'Yellowstone' franchise, it's shaped by showrunner Spencer Hudnut and follows a formulaic 'case-of-the-week' procedural plot. Go to Full Review
Josh Rosenberg Esquire Magazine Mar 19
Kayce’s life is now a kind of TV show that you’ve seen countless times before. It doesn’t have the same artfulness behind it, and the pacing barely leaves time for sweeping shots of the Montana valley or reflection of any kind. Go to Full Review

The franchise spinoff switches gears from Yellowstone's complicated, dynastic story world to a crime-fighting TV procedural. Go to Full Review

Jan W @JanmW 1h I love this show because its a very different show to Yellowstone (which I loved but was never going to be the same without Costner). Luke Grimes is a fantastic and I was in tears when they were at the ceremony honouring Monica. I love the rest of the team as well. It needs to get a bit a more gritty like Justified (with the excellent Timothy Oliphant) but I think it will get there once all the emotional stuff gets out of the way. See more landon S. @lbgold 5h Well, it’s gonna be a no for me, dog. I can excise a lot of things in a procedural. But a procedural that’s trying to be serial is a bit much. Besides that thought, the show is terrible. Maybe I’ll go try the Madison that’s totally different from his other shows. It’s about a family who lives in the middle of nowhere with relationship problems. See more Maria W @RT65706253 1d Horrible waste of Luke Grimes talent; he was the tortured loyalist that fought against everything Kevin Costner stood for. Yet he understood keeping the Yellowstone values pure. Taylor Sheridan has finally hit a 0-2 with this show. The storyline is awful, cutting Monica out and using Kayce as a gun toting robot. Such a waste, feel the same about the Madison as well. Michelle is not enough to carry the show with memories of Kurt Russell. Hurry back Landman!!! See more Eric W @PhilDirt4209 3d Everything is off. Poor writing on top of poor acting. Timing is off on nearly every scene, making show painful and awkward. See more Kelly D @RT33766305 6d We have really enjoyed this show. It has gotten better with each episode! Hope it will be renewed! See more Tim L @RT44413189 6d Terrible. Disappointing. Sheridan should be ashamed that he put his name on this. See more Read all reviews
