With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates -- Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz, and Miles Kittle -- must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence with their duty to their families.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Marshals confines Kayce Dutton within a dim procedural that lacks the narrative spark and intrigue that Yellowstone managed instantly, making this one ham-fisted trek.

The prolific Sheridan didn’t work on the show, which might explain why it’s a compact, somewhat predictable, network procedural. Go to Full Review

Plays less like the next chapter in the Dutton saga than a side expedition, adjacent to the family legacy but not meaningfully advancing it. Go to Full Review

In truth, it’s too enamored of Dutton lore to let Kayce stand on his own, let alone the show around him. Go to Full Review

A generic spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's 'Yellowstone' franchise, it's shaped by showrunner Spencer Hudnut and follows a formulaic 'case-of-the-week' procedural plot. Go to Full Review

Kayce’s life is now a kind of TV show that you’ve seen countless times before. It doesn’t have the same artfulness behind it, and the pacing barely leaves time for sweeping shots of the Montana valley or reflection of any kind. Go to Full Review

The franchise spinoff switches gears from Yellowstone's complicated, dynastic story world to a crime-fighting TV procedural. Go to Full Review

Victoria B. @tortor00056 17h It’s pretty good, does leave some of the past missing and it has it’s own story line with past issues See more April W @RT95253077 2d I couldn't get into Yellowstone, even attempting to watch the series at two different times. I love Kevin Costner but the writing was sappy, the story lines drug on and the character arcs had no depth. This series is carrying on the same lack of direction and characters since they don't come across as having any real rapport or depth. I was hopeful this one would be a good draw and have some closer semblance to 1883 or 1923 with grit, romance and direction. Unfortunately not. I'm bailing on this show; I can't endure further episodes. See more Emma C @RT41833964 2d I was so so, looking forward to this and it looks amazing on the trailer. But what a let down, it’s just some generic American police show that bad man comes to town and the team track them down in 1 day and save the day. It could have been so good. But just felt rushed and massively overextended. They are definitely missing the Taylor writing skills. I’m just hoping this isn’t a preview to the Beth and Rip spinoff. See more Kristie F @Foggy-gal 3d I really wanted it to be good. But sadly it’s just another overly simply story-line every episode. No complexity, no detail, no substance at all. I loved Yellowstone, love the storyline… but this doesn’t get anywhere near it. See more Laureen M @RT36218375 3d I am quite disappointed in the lack of thought put into that show. The creators/writers have almost no depth or complexity to it at all! There's nothing wrong with the actors as I have seen most of them in other shows. It must be embarrassing for the actors to be in such a shallow, dumb, poorly thought out flop! Even the writers as a group are not dynamic or creative, or lack experience! If Taylor Sheridan cares about his shows, he should be looking at the end result because I don't see that show lasting very long! See more John P @RT05407661 4d The show is nowhere near the quality level of the Yellowstone series. The acting is horrible and the casting is terrible. Very disappointing show, I was hoping it would be a continuation of a great series like Yellowstone but instead it’s a mediocre production. The only authentic part of the series is the scenery. Very disappointing show. See more Read all reviews
