What to Know

Critics Consensus

Contrary to its title, Nobody Wants This proves to be a welcome binge thanks to Kristen Bell and Adam Brody's irresistible chemistry and some thoughtful considerations of interfaith romance.

Geordie Gray The Australian This is a winning rom-com, with witty dialogue and crackling chemistry between Brody and Bell. Oct 21, 2024 Full Review Margaret Lyons New York Times If the show’s understanding of Judaism seems mean and shallow, that’s probably because its true religion is the holy algorithm, its episodes preordained to be even more irresistible than illicit prosciutto. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review David Bianculli NPR It's easy to imagine Nobody Wants This emerging rapidly as the rom-com standard for a new age. It's sweet, but it's sharp. It has laughs but also has bite. Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Lindsay Press Culturess Nobody Wants This grounds itself in the reality of two different people wanting to make their romance work, and questioning if, in this case, love really is enough. Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked Sonsidering that we’ve seen it before with the Jewish heartthrob and adorable blonde of a previous generation, Nobody Wants This works unexpectedly well. K A This unlikely pairing left me wanting more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Tom F A very charming cast and an okay premise. It goes down pretty easy, but the longer it went on the less I cared. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/03/25 Full Review David C As funny as The Bear and The Martian. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Paul J. F Not bad, but Trump for dictatorship! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/06/25 Full Review Deedee G If I can lay with one show for the rest of my life, this would be it I would marry this show if I could This series is everything that I would want in a series, romantic comedy and so much more, Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review KC E Wow-these reviews are unbelievable. I guess it’s good to know that insecure petite blondes who are completely neurotic and overthink, overanalyze, and overshare about everything (á la Carrie Bradshaw) are still entertaining for a base audience… but apparently that’s just not me anymore. Bottom line—I really WANTED to like Nobody Wants This, but it’s just not different enough from all the other post-SITC relationship-themed stuff out there. NWT isn’t totally hopeless though; I like many of the actors, and many of the auxiliary characters are far more entertaining, quirky, better written, and likable than those on similar series. Also the Noah character is at least more emotionally and intellectually evolved than most of the SITC male characters. I’m just exhausted by the trite “Oh if I show him all of my girly self he’ll think I’m crazy and get scared!” narrative. I’m also supremely bored by insecure female characters with a ridiculous need to validate themselves and find their self-worth and self-love through being picked by a man — and Joanne really is a “total pick-me girl” like she’s accused of being by teenage girls in episode 5. Then again, I’m betting a series about a healthy, well-adjusted, independent, straight woman who just wants a man for companionship and fun doesn’t fit the tired formula for “good” rom-com TV that studio execs are still unwilling to reimagine or deepen, which leaves NWT as just more unevolved TV that I don’t really want… Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
