What to Know

Critics Consensus

On Call is an undemanding patrol thanks to its half-hour format, but the shorter runtime is about the only new novelty it brings to the cop drama genre.

Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) The show is trying to be sharp and immediate, using 30-minute episodes and body camera footage, but it ends up having little to say about the dynamic between the officers or wider policing issues. Jan 23, 2025 Full Review Margaret Lyons New York Times Its eight episodes are largely serialized and have the tense velocity that is the raison d’être for cop shows in the first place. Jan 15, 2025 Full Review Thelma Adams TheWrap These aren’t particularly bad cops, but they’re not as compelling as they need to be to break through in a flooded marketplace. Jan 10, 2025 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India ...the show juggles so many minor crime cases that the central narrative...gets sidelined. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba With ugly cinematography, bad writing, and generic acting, On Call comes off like a Prime Video cop show that graduated from the Netflix school of algorithm-driven slop. Jan 24, 2025 Full Review Tatat Bunnag Bangkok Post On Call offers enough moral ambiguity to make its characters intriguing and complex. While it may not be groundbreaking, it presents a grim, gripping portrayal of the harsh realities of urban life and the officers sworn to protect it. Jan 17, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Quite entertaining. Decent acting tough but stories are very interesting Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Raven C It was a great series, but very unrealistic. In no way would a Training Officer be allowed to put a new officer into so many bad decisions. I do like how they discuss the challenges of police in todays climate, but not seem to follow those same procedures. The body cam was a great idea, and the action was very intense. I personally think they rushed into personal matters too fast to be realistic. The officer is shot in the end, and still back on duty? That Officer can not preform their duties at 100 percent and would be on desk or light duty. Overall a good show, and look forward to a season 2, but if they are trying to make this realistic they need try a little harder. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/25 Full Review Flex C I never leave reviews, but this show is Brilliant and one of the best police shows I've ever watched. Not only does it have realistic action, it has the bullshit inter-departmental politics that we cops have to deal with. Get 10 seasons of this written immediately. BEST COP SHOW OUT THERE AND VERY WELL ACTED. Also, these "critics" haven't got a clue. They think they are reviewing art. Jog on and get rid of them all. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Steve C One of the best police patrol shows I’ve watched. Good plot and character development. Really hope they bring it back. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Not bad, better than most network TV cop shows. The camera angles everywhere help a lot. However the no name actors are just okay though. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Wyann W Surprised by the critics score; I think the audience score says it all. I binge-watched this series so quickly. I grew up watching Pretty little Liars and loved seeing Troian Bellisarioback on the screen. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
