Niv M. Sultan Slant Magazine At its most formidable, the series finds remarkable pathos amid its absurdity. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 12, 2024 Full Review Polly Conway Common Sense Media This feels primarily like a trippy experiment gone wrong, and even Rick and Morty superfans might want to give it a pass. Sep 4, 2024 Full Review Cheryl Eddy io9.com Throughout, creator Sano’s deep affection for Rick and Morty is quite evident. You can see it in The Anime‘s excitement about inter-dimensional hijinks, outer space battles, and fan-favorite supporting characters that pop up here and there. Aug 16, 2024 Full Review Sean Boelman FandomWire As it stands, the main question fans will be asking when they watch Rick and Morty: The Anime is “Why?” So far, there’s not a good reason. Rated: 5/10 Aug 12, 2024 Full Review Allegra Frank IGN Movies Even if Rick and Morty: The Anime ultimately veers toward inexplicable more than enjoyable, though, it’s never boring -- which you can’t always say about Rick and Morty itself. If nothing else, the anime will go down as an impressive exercise. Rated: 7/10 Aug 12, 2024 Full Review Reuben Baron Looper.com Watching the first two episodes of Rick and Morty: The Anime mostly made me long for another season of Space Dandy. Audience Member Despite its lack of the sense of humor that came from the original series, it still finds times to land a joke or two. This show is definitely a more grounded version of Rick and Morty but the story is definitely a little confusing at times. Overall I'd give it a 3.5/5 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review rubia h Literal ass. Rick and Morty fans would be greatly dissatisfied and anyone who hasn’t seen Rick and Morty this should not be your first impression of it it’s a very very very poor representation of the actual humor. The art is weird as if they gave up halfway through drawing and none of the voice actors are the same. Don’t watch even five minutes of it it’s that bad Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Malachi C I'm honestly surprised that this shows overall rating is so low. However I feel it may be a combination of the originals show audience expecting exactly that but in anime form (which honestly would be a waste) and it having a hard time finding it's own audience because of the ladder. The first two episodes can be a bit low on plot but it definitely grows as it goes on. This show gave me such a nostalgic shot in the arm of wacky early 2000's anime and I love it! If you were wanting a shot for for remake of the original series or the exact same tone then you'll be disappointed but if you're open to something new and can handle the animation style and line delivery you're in for a real treat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Victor U There's a beauty to how the story unfolds that might be wasted on the average Rick and Morty viewer. The same folks who balked as the series matured in the seventh season probably won't appreciate taking a moment to understand how nonlinear storytelling works. The art is visually stunning. The voice acting is top rate. This is bound to be a cult classic despite the initial negative reviews. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Isaiah W I genuinely was confused within my first viewing of the first 3 episodes, however as I rewatch it with new eyes the plot of the story and music are amazing and really captures Japanese anime. I am exited in anticipation for what the series has to hold. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review Amedeo A There is no plot at all. It's random scene after random scene. It feels like written by an AI hallicinating things after reading the Wikipedia entry for Rick and Morty. And it also doesn't help that the art style is awful... so you can't even just turn your brain off and enjoy the visuals. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
