Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) [Season One] had just the right ratio of unease to idiosyncrasy. The second season holds that mix, but the writing’s focus has empowered the supporting cast. Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Shrinking understood it had a strong cast and invested development into each of its characters so that they all feel well-formed. You can follow any of them in their own subplots and find it satisfying. Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com The humor is sharper this year; the emotion lands harder. Oct 18, 2024 Full Review Paul McGuire Grimes KSTP-TV (St. Paul, MN) Shrinking feels like a warm hug. It meets you where you’re at, acknowledges life can be horrible, and reminds you that it will get better. Rated: 4.5/5 Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Brooke Obie Black Girl Watching As much as it’s a show about grief, it’s also about healing. You’ll see a path to another way we humans can be with each other and build community, even in the most depressing of times. And if you could make a show like that, why not make that show? Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Nicholas Brooks CBR Although Shrinking Season 2 is a perfect endpoint, the series' future looks to be one of growth and possibility. Christopher P Shrinking makes me feel like no show has before (in a good way). I wish there was more content like this out there. This show is like a weighted blanket for my brain. There is so much vulnerability and forgiveness between the characters that is just beautiful and refreshing to see. Shrinking gives me hope for humanity and makes me want to hug someone, which is usually not my first instinct. Also, the show is very funny and features a perfect cast. Love this show! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Mane H Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the characters in first season—understanding their personalities, flaws, and mistakes—you can truly live alongside them. You begin to feel their emotions, grasp their reasons, and see their motives. I especially love the internal debate the show sparks about forgiveness, and the final scene of the movie ties everything together perfectly. And lastely, it’s hard to imagine a better cast or stronger chemistry between them. This is the best TV show I’ve seen in a long time, and I absolutely loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/25 Full Review Stephen W Loved S1. S2 is badly written with juvenile, smutty humour repeated over and over. Very, very poor — and disappointing — especially considering S1 was so good. Acting is also poor. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/17/25 Full Review Connie M I especially loved the ending of season 2. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/25 Full Review GDNM1119 B Loved the first season so much and this one started a little slow for me and repetitive with Sean and Alice’s constant whines very reminiscent to season one I had to take a break. My friend told me to push through and it really did come together, I absolutely loved how it ended. Reminded me of the first season and why I fell in love with it. All the feels. Jason segal really shines as does Harrison ford of course. The music is great too. Looking forward to season 3. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review Nick R Very funny and expertly casted with great characters, but also heart-jerking with t a sense of dread. Shrinking balances strong themes, mental illness struggles, and grief from many different character types. Even though they are all the same in a quippy way, the cast is fantastic all around.
